13 years later:
I woke up to my intoxicated mom sleeping next to me. But I wasn't shocked or the least bit concerned because this was a daily thing. Weekly if I lucky.

I rolled out of bed and did my usual morning routine before waking up my mom.

"Mom wake up I have to get breakfast. Mom." I said shaking her.

"Hm. Oh morning sweet heart." She said. Alcohol still fresh in her breath.

"Oh gosh your breath stinks. Go brush your teeth. I'm going to dads house and I need the car keys."

"You just said you want me to make you breakfast."

"Yeah well I changed my mind. The keys?"

"The keys are on the table. Tell your father I said hello and be safe."

I walked out of my room and down stairs where I found about two empty Hennessy bottles and a man sleeping on the couch in only is underwear.

I know I know, gross. But I'm use to this. Not something I should be proud of but its true.

I rolled my eyes got the keys and drove off to my dads place. I just wanted to be as far away from my mom as possible.

When I reached his house I saw that his car was still in the drive way.

"Hi honey." My dad said opening the door.

"Hi dad. How did you know I was here?"

"I heard you pull up. Come in. Harper is still asleep so be very quiet."

I locked the car doors and came in the house. One of the many reasons I love going to my dad's house is because his home actually feels like a home.

"What's cookin?"

"Cheesy bakes and turkey bacon."

"Yum."

I grabbed my plate and sat at the table with my dad and minutes later his wife came down stairs.

"Good morning Natalia." She greeted me walking over to my dad and kissing him.

Couple goals.

"Morning Anaya."

"Are you going to work today?" My dad asked.

"Not today. I told them I was sick."

"So you spending the whole day with your old man?" He asked playfully nudging me.

"Yes sir."  I answered and resumed to eating my breakfast.

I was told that I was a daddy's girl growing up, and that is so true. But, he's the only normal person in my life right now and he actually cares for me.

I know you may be asking, why don't you just move in with your dad? If I could I would. But my mom has full custody. Sadly.

When she's not wasted or high, she's a well respected defense attorney. She also gets her help from my Uncle Sammy.

But I wish I can live with my dad and Anaya.
