There once lived a young man who lived in a humble village. He owned a field where he would work tirelessly to grow food to feed himself and his wife and children and sell the excess. It was exhausting but it worked for him.

One day, he was walking through the forest where he would normally walk on his way home. He came across a tree where a serpent of a peculiar color was crawling. He stopped to stare at the bright crimson-colored snake. Suddenly, the snake leaped forward as if it was going to attack but stopped right in front of his face. The snake, peering into the man's eyes, started to speak. In the way that a human would. It spoke to the man.

"Say, you're an awfully weary-looking man. You must be fed up with your lifestyle. Allow me to give you some power. It will change your life forever, and you'll rule over all others."

The man, content with his life, declined the offer and hurriedly ran home where his family awaited.
The next day, the man went to work in his field, finished up, and was just about to leave when he smelled smoke. He turned around, praying that his fear was not a reality, and saw a part of his crop field set ablaze. Some delinquents must've done this. He hurriedly grabbed a bucket to try and get some water to put the fire out. But the only source of water for miles was a creek on the other side of the field, barricaded by the fire. He gave up all hope and watched as his field lit up. One by one, every crop was ruined. And the man broke down on the dirt road and began to cry.
He cried until he decided to swallow his pride and return to the forest. He saw what he came looking for: the snake. He told the snake his current situation and pleaded of the snake to give him power.

"I thought that you might change your mind...", the snake said teasingly.
"As you wish. Just open your mouth...". The man complied and he widened his eyes in an amalgam of shock and horror as the snake leaped into his mouth and slithered down his throat, into his stomach. He felt the snake wiggle around inside of him until it felt it would come out of him, through the posterior orifice. It, to the inner disgust of the man, slithered out of him. When it came out the man turned around to see that it had lost its red hue, becoming pale white. It also seemed to behave like a normal snake now as it spared not a single glance at the man and just dashed off into the night.
The shaken up man was overcome with a crippling pain in, what seemed like, his entire body. As if every little bit of him was crying out in agony. He felt his body levitate into the air as he screamed in toil. He then landed on the ground and felt the pain fade away. He felt lighter than air.

He stood up, surprised that he didn't really feel all that different. He did, however, feel a tight pain in his forearm. He swung his arm around, attempting to relieve the pain and was left alarmed when he felt a strong gust of wind that seemingly chopped the tree down itself. He ducked as the tree fell on top of him and was even more taken back to find that it went right through. Literally. He then stood back and examined the situation. Within an hour, he would lift the tree up with his mind, chop it into several pieces, light the pieces on fire, put out the fire with water, eat the whole thing in one bite, and grow a completely new tree.
After he was done playing around, he returned home to eat dinner with his wife and kids. Following dinner, he told his wife of the day's events and how he planned to use his powers to improve their lives. The wife, delighted, leaped into her husband's arms and kissed him as they went to the bedroom. They made love that night and were overly exhausted when they finished. More so than usual.
The following day, the wife awoke with a start to find that she herself had otherworldly powers as well. She exhibited this to her husband and both were delighted to see this. Thus is where the man realized that he could give his powers to other people without losing his own.
He did this to all of his other children via touch and told them all to give powers to other friends. The man did the same and before anyone saw it coming, the entire village and, later on, other civilizations had these powers. The man saw that this was good but had no idea as to what would follow suit.
War broke out and all of the civilizations were pitted against each other. Normally, this would only mean that the people at war would kill or be killed by a spear, sword, or arrow. But these people had powers. And these powers had the potential to to destroy nations. And they did. The war ended up killing many more than those on the battlefields. The man heard of many of his loved ones dying at a hands of all of these people and he was overcome with grief and guilt. When he finally got word of his wife's death, he snapped. He decided to put an end to this.
He stood in the middle of a battlefield, prompting everyone to stop, and exclaimed, "This ends now!!". Just as he said that, everyone started crying out in agony as they fell to the ground in pain. They seemingly corroded away, not leaving a single ash. Every person on that planet was wiped out of existence. "I have made the powers that I have given you, act against you, destroying you at a cellular level...", the man stated coldly as a tear streamed down his cheek, "...but you brought this upon yourselves...".
The man then rose into the sky and watched as he created a new human race with hopes that they would no longer cause damage to the planet. He used his powers his heal the planet and all that was done to it. He then split his powers into 26 pieces and gave one to each and every person. That way, they wouldn't cause as much devastation. He built a castle beyond the reaches of the planet and lived there for the rest of his life, watching over as the human race rebuilt itself.
Nearing his death, he summoned the person that he could trust the most of all the humans. He entrusted them with the title of Supreme witch. He gave to them all 26 powers and gave them the duty of handing out a power to each and every single person born and to protect the human race from extinction. He also ordered them to create an army of 26 people. Elites that would be known as the Letter Guardians that would also protect the race from extinction and anything the Supreme ordered of them.
With that, the army was created and the man saw that this was good. He died with a smile on his face as he saw his vision fulfilled.
