(Grade 10 year)"Hey mom!" I yell as I walk through the door. My first week at my new school had finished. I dumped my black- pin covered side bag on the floor. I smoothed out my skirt and tightened my ponytail.
"How was school?" She asked me as I walked into our kitchen.
"Good. I made a friend." I told her. I picked up my little baby sister Tori and smiled at her.
"Hey Tori." I kissed her head and placed her on my shoulder.
"That's good. What's her name?" Mom asked, muting the TV.
"It's a he, not a she. Ands his names Caleb." I laughed lightly. She smiled.
"Don't worry though mom. He's gay. Told me himself. He started at St. FX last year, so he knows what being the new kid is." I explained. I set Tori down in her chair and gave her her suther.
I sat down on our L shape couch. "Oh! I have good news!" My mom exclaimed.
"Yes?" I asked hesitantly. So many possibilities were running through my mind at the moment.
"I figured out how much money will be left over from the wedding. We're moving spring break!" I stared at my mom, a smile on my face.
"Really? You're kidding me, right?" I asked. She shook her head. I hugged her. I've been bugging about moving into our next house, still in town just a new house. It was bigger and better, more room for the six of us.
I smile bigger. I was moving into a new house, I had started at a new school and made a new friend. Life was looking good.

I lifted the box with the kitchen plates in my arms and into the house. When I came back out, Caleb passed me another box.
A U-Hual truck pulled up beside our house. "New neighbours?" Caleb asked. I nodded, motioning to the 'For Sale' sign that had a 'Sold' sticker over it.
"I guess. I'm just hopping they're nice." Caleb nodded, agreeing. We went back inside with my boxes that were from my room. I haunted when a white coloured van pulled into the drive way.
A tall, slender women got out and smiled at the house. I guessed she it as one of the owners. She didn't look mean or stuck up; her blonde hair was in a ponytail with a bandana wrapped around her head and tied into a bow. She was wearing a white blouse and a pair of black jeans and red heals. She reminded me of the work hard woman back from world war 2.
Caleb nudged me inside. We set the boxes down in my room and looked over our task. I wanted my room to be white, so I had bought paint cans.
We went in covering everything with the plastic sheets before starting to paint.
Once the walls were done, we started to set up. We brought my bed in, set it in the far corner. I grabbed the new comforter and made my bed. Caleb though the pillows at me for me to set. They consisted of white, navy blue and black.
I grabbed one side if the shelving unit while Caleb grabbed the other. We set it up so it was tall, and pushed it against the end if my bed as a foot post. We did the same with the other one.
I grabbed the circulate curtain rod. My plan was to screw it into the corner and add curtains so it would be a closed off reading space.
I got my step dad, Rob, to help with that. I pulled aside the black curtains and waited for Caleb to pass the fuzzy rug to me. He set one pillows in there too. I grabbed one if my DIY shelves and screwed it into the wall.
The last thing was my desk. We brought it in and finally started decorating.
Caleb wanted to do something to the desk so I let him.
