A couple minutes later, all the children finished putting their things away and were chatting or giggling at the tables. Mrs.Kelly then clapped her hands. The kids suddenly turned their heads to see their teacher.
"I see y'all have already opened up yourselves with your surroundings, great!"
Some kids slowly nodded their heads. Most of them just starred at her with a blank and dumbfounded face. They had no idea what she just said. It took her a moment, but she finally realized what they were trying to say.
"Oh dear, sorry kids. I just spaced out. I meant to say, you already made new friends?" They just giggled and nodded. She sighed.
It was true, she really did space out. It was also very true that she was sorry for these innocent children. For what? That should be at the least of your problems. For now, at least.
"Well, I guess we should get to know each other well. Everyone take a seat at the rainbow circle for circle time!" The kids skipped to the circular carpet.
Once everyone sat criss cross applesauce, Kevin raised his hand.
"Um, excuse me Mrs.Kelly?"
"Yes, Kevin?"
"This isn't a circle. It seems like a oval to me." Kevin said.
"Good job for observing that Kevin! I guess it is an oval," He smiled to himself,"But, we will be talking about shapes later on. For now, we will go in a circle saying our name and one cool fact about yourself. Let's start with Kevin because of his observation!" Mrs.Kelly pointed at him to start first.
"Hi! My name is Kevin Olusola. But you should already know that. And a cool fact about me is... Um... Oh yeah! I love Nigerian food."
A few more kids went on next. Kirstin was thinking about puppies wearing hats instead of listening, until she heard Avi's name.
"Hellooooooo. My name is Aviiiiiiii. And I looooove draaaagoooonssss." He said very slowly, trying to sound as low as possible.
"Excuse me Avi, but please talk normally." Mrs.Kelly asked.
Avi just rolled his eyes and poked Mitch to go next. Mrs.Kelly did not like Avi's behavior, so she took him out to the hallway expecting the kids to be good without her.
"Hi! My name is Mitchell, but call me Mitch unless you want to get your hair pulled out. And, um, I don't really think Kirstin's name fit her. I will be talking to her later." He said winking at Kirstin.
Before she could react as to what he just said about her, Scott went on next.
"Hi", he waved, " My name is Scott Richard Hoying. And a fact about me is, um, I'm a noodle who likes music." He shrugged.
At this point, Kirstin wasn't listening to the kids around her once again. She was deeply thinking about the four boys. Kevin, Avi, Mitch, and Scott.
How is Kevin soooo smart? What if he's a robot? Maybe he can give me unlimited puppies! Ya. That's good. And then Avi could help me train them with his dragons! Or maybe he will fight off the bad guys who wants to take my puppies. And then Mitch and Scott could dress up them! I know Mitch seems mean, but mommy said to always find the good in people. So I reallyyyy hope I get to find his.
