The sound of the drowning rainfall swept away any joy left in my soul, for the scene in front of me was indescribable. The horror and fear it brought to my heart swept anything remaining inside till leaving only a dark void. As I stood there in the doorway to my home drenched in cold, that chilled heart and bone. I wish I could have gouged my eyes out at carnage that lay before me in my own living room. The blood dripping down from the wall where my father was impaled through the chest by a broken shade lamp pole we had standing next to the armchair, his body already lifeless not even air left in him. That alone was enough to break the dam of tears, but the horrors felt like they would never cease as I looked to the left on the ground where my younger sister laid dead, her body half-eaten and unrecognizable, only her small stature of young age gave her away. The tears gushed from my eyes now as if from a waterfall surging down my face in and past my mouth and on my chest where they seemed to choke my lungs.
"No why..why..why..why." The words repeated over and over in my head making me feel insane. The droplets continued to pour from my sockets. Until eventually the water froze my throat causing a blockage of air and the only thing that could break it was air and bile. The foul liquid spewed from my mouth with uncontrollable force until there was nothing left."Cough, cough" I finished dry heaving. "Please, 'cough cough' let it be over." I thought to myself. But sadly my treacherous brain would not let me forget about her. "Mom?" I looked to my left after hearing groaning sounds coming from the master bedroom. "No please, Please not her." I shambled over towards the sound, praying my mother had survived this ghoulish attack. But when my eyes met the interior of the room my heart shattered. The scene of the Ghoul's pleasure was unforgettable and unforgivable but what could I do, as he raped my mother's lifeless corpse. Her body was limp her heart ripped and devoured from her bare chest, her neck slit, and several other wounds, and cuts covered her body. "There- There's no one left." My knees buckled from the sight, and the thudding sound caused the Ghoul to stop his fun as he realized he was not alone.
"Well I'll be damned, so which one are you boy?" The Ghoul asked. "I'm Tatsuki....That's my mom." I answered tears running down my face. "Huh, when I had heard Shunsetsu had a full fledged family I thought they were just rumors, but here you are the last piece, the brother." The Ghoul said with a evil grin, the rain still pouring and lightning still crashing. "How do you...know my mother?" I asked looking at the ground eyes dry as sand. I personally didn't care about how he knew, but I knew death was near, so I thought that I might as well die knowing. "Your mother was my first love, boy, that is until I became a Ghoul of course. Ooh she flew faster than a bird fleeing a snake's nest. And after that I decided to abandon my ways and become a true Ghoul even if I'm a half-breed. Apparently she forgot about me, but I never forgot about her, and all I had to do to find her was follow her scent which is still apparent even after death." He then took a long whiff of her neck and continued, "Mmm smells like dinner." His origin story and his physique showed his age to be around 30-40 years old, for my mother's age was 36. And actually I remembered her talking about her first love when I was young and she said he was the reason she decided not to judge Ghouls. But it didn't matter, what this Ghoul had done was unforgettable. "Well lucky for you I've had my fill of human flesh so I will grant you a swift death." The ghoul said, his very voice fueling my rage but my empty heart paralyzed my body, so I couldn't fight back even if I wanted to. He knew this and that is why he took his time to form his Kagune. The Crystal flesh from his upper back hardened to a form Crimson ice spear the size of a tree trunk. As I looked up with dead grey eyes that resembled my anguish, I stared my death in the face a middle aged Ghoul with a crooked complexion with one human eye and one with a black space and Crimson core. I waited to embrace my family in death.
Crash! The lighting flashed, the end was thwarted by fate which in this case had a cruel humor. "Gasp" the ghoul jumped backwards as if scared of my shadow. Which in turn made me creak my head behind me to peak at the two figures standing in the Shadows. I recognized them instantly by their attire, and briefcases. "Doves." More specifically Mado, and Amon. "Well I guess what they say is true. Whenever a Ghoul strikes a dove will surely follow." The Ghoul commented sarcastically. "Hello half-breed-" said Mado "you sure have done a number on this family, and you've ruined this poor boy's life. It's truly tragic." The Ghoul chuckled, "Ha, ha, ha, like you've ever forgiven a ghoul in your life, Frankenstein" Mado grit his teeth at the insult of a name, but Amon still stern-faced as usual. "Please-" I muttered. Amon looked down then knelt next to me. "Don't worry we'll make this thing pay for the wicked things he's done-" "Kill me." I interrupted, now facing the ground. "What?" Amon whispered in confusion. "Please Kill me." I said once again. Amon still staring with bewilderment. "Well would you look at that." Mado picked me up by the shirt and stared into my empty eyes. "Kill me" I repeated "he's given up, pathetic" he scoffed. I couldn't focus on him if I wanted to my entire body felt limp. But Amon defended me "Mado put the boy down now! He's been through enough." "Fine, but I have no use for worthless trash." He finished and threw me aside with surprising strength for an old man. I flew a couple feet and hit the glass nightstand next to my parents' bed, it instantly shattered and I crumpled to the ground with the glass and lamp. "Mado!" Amon yelled, "what he'll live, but who cares for now let's deal with this beast He he he he, Hiyah!"
As I laid there frozen in my own sorrow, my eyes had closed shut as I prayed for the light of death, even though I knew it would never come. I couldn't rest for my mind refused it, so I decided to try and wake from this nightmare. But once I opened my eyes I wish I could have just died already.
Not much time had passed since I fell unconscious, but so much had happened that I still wondered how long I was out. The battle between the Ghoul and the doves had destroyed the master bedroom. Most of the walls had been destroyed and the roof had collapsed. I was quite shocked and pissed I was untouched by the destruction. But what shocked me the most was the situation the Ghoul was in. My blurry eyes gazed upon the scene in front of me. Amon was kneeling a few feet away from me to my right apparently recovering from his tussle, but my eyes were more glued on the torturous picture dead ahead. Mado had pinned the Ghoul to the ground using wooden spikes from the rubble, and he was stabbing the still breathing beast over and over again in different regions of his body except for the head with his green quinque, blood spewing and bones breaking over and over again, the madman laughed with insanity while the Ghoul screamed in agony. "What's with you you're nothing but a pushover and to think you're a filthy half-breed I've fought purebreds worse than you, c'mon." Each jab making my bones quiver and my shattered heart freeze over. I knew the Ghoul needed to pay for what he did, but no one not even a Ghoul deserved that. "STOOOOP!" I screamed at the top of my choked lungs the noise causing Mado to stop his barbaric act and turn towards the disturbance.. "Just Stop" I said with tears welling again, and raining down my face. "Well would you look at that. Looks like the trash can bark. But this beast deserves everything that's coming to him." Mado said, unfazed by my protest. "No he doesn't" I shouted again, Mado raised an eyebrow at my altercation, "No one deserves that not even a Ghoul." "Fine then I guess I'll just kill him now then, will that make you feel better." Mado finished. I was so shocked and filled with sorrows by the day's events that I barely nodded. Mado began back over towards the Ghoul, so I decided to get one last look at the murderer before his death. His wind pipes were crushed, but I could still read his lips. "Thank you," and "Sorry" were his last words to me before Mado took his head off with his quinque. The smile still on the Ghoul's face as his head hit the ground with a thud.
"There, it is done. Amon let the Feds deal with this body it's not even worth studying or a new quinque." "Understood but what about the boy?" "Let the Feds deal with him too, they could help him more than we ever could." "Right" Amon took out his cellphone and began to call 911 when he noticed my position I was no longer sitting but on the ground stone still. "Wait look." He pointed back over to me and that's when he noticed the shard in my back "He's hurt! Call the ambulance and the police." He shouted then threw his phone to Mado as he ran over to where I was laying. A shard of glass the size of a hand from the shattered nightstand had wedged itself 5 inches in my shoulder blade, and the wound bled profusely. "C'mon boy stay with me." Amon ordered, But to no avail, my eyes grew dark as I drifted out of consciousness, from too much blood loss. The last thing I saw was my mother's face and her beautiful eyes which I would never see again.
