About Remarkable Reads
Like the name entails, the remarkable reads promotional campaign is for books on wattpad that are extraordinary but unfortunately lack the amount of exposure they deserve.
We (the moderators of the RRPC) are actually just readers and critiques here on wattpad. However, it really bugles us when we see books that lack a certain spark get millions of reads whereas books that are actually very remarkable lack recognition. Hence, we decided to create this campaign as sort of a movement so those talented, unrecognized authors could get noticed.
Note to our fellow readers and critiques: You're also welcome to join. All you have to do is follow and add the book to your reading lists and libraries. If you also share our frustration of finding good books on wattpad, this is the right place for you. We will personally hand select all the books that apply to join the campaign and we promise they would all be worthy of your time.
The five main characteristics of a Remarkable Read:
A short note before you proceed: We're aware that more than seventy five percent of wattpad authors are not professional writers. Hence, we're not expecting perfect stories but we will only accept books that have at least three out of the five characteristics written below. Especially good grammar and tight, epic story plots.
1.) Good grammar: This characteristic is very important! Almost all readers want to read stories that flow naturally. So the one thing that stops us from completing a story- or even moving past the blurb really -is bad grammar. Besides, a writer who goes through his/her story with a fine tooth comb is one who holds it to a high standard.
2.) Relatable characters: Most people don't enjoy reading about perfect and polished characters because- let's face it- there's NO SUCH THING! Real people have problems, flaws and negative characteristics. No one is perfect. We need stories with characters we can love and hate at the same time.
3.) Tight story plots and events: The story most be epic and a roller-coaster ride of emotions. It doesn't have to be throughout the story but it should at least have one or two turning points that leaves the reader at the edge of their seats. Good books get the reader thinking and analyzing every little detail. It has to make the reader suspicious of every character and even if they think they've figured something out or found a piece to the puzzle, they still feel compelled to read and find out if they were right. (Gah! We love those types of stories!)
4.) Originality: Now, we have nothing against cliche stories because honestly, cliche's are very hard to avoid. However, there's a difference between being original and merely imitating stories plots that are seen as successful. Writers with originality often think out side the box or if they decide to use a popular trope, they still find ways to add twists and turns to make their story really stand out. Those are the kind of writers we're looking for.
5.) Setting and tone: The setting has to be imaginable! When most readers read a story, they want to imagine themselves in it. We're looking for books that use beautiful language and all five common senses to describe the characters surroundings. The tone of the story also has to be flowing naturally even if the character is emotional. Great writers know how to blend their tone even if the story is jumping from a joyful atmosphere to a sad one.
If you feel like your story has at least three out of the five characteristics listed above, then by all means, turn the page to find out how RRPC works.
To our fellow readers, if you know stories that have the five characteristics, please let us know and we'll contact the writers. Thank you!
