I Would (Liam Payne/ 1D FanFic)

Chapter 24

At first the ride back is awkward. Both of us are too consumed in our own thoughts to make any conversation. 

"So, are you missing home?" She asks. 

" Actually no, it's really not all that bad. I mean, of course I miss my parents and my own bed, but it's good practice for when I head off to uni. And besides my parents, I just really miss my boyfriend." I respond to her. I can tell that my last sentence surprised her.  

"Boyfriend?" She asks with raised eyebrows. She acts more focused on the road now, trying to hide how surprised she is.  

"Yeah, his name is Xenen," I respond nonchalantly, acting along with her.  

"Oh, that's cool," she replies.  

"Yeah, it is." 

"So you and Liam are just friends then?" 

"Of course. He's really cool." Her bringing Liam into this makes me go stiff.  

Did she think Liam and I were more than friends? 

"Yeah, he is," she replies.  

Not wanting to dwell on this topic anymore, I decide to change it. "So, how long have you and Zayn been going out?" I ask. Of course I already know the answer to this, it just sounds like the normal thing to say.  

"We're going on seven months," she replies giddily.  

Awe, how cute! 

"That's awesome! Are you two going to do anything for your anniversary?" I question. I've been wanting to know like forever if it's true that her and Zayn are going to go on a two-month long vacation to the Bahamas or not.  

"Well, we're thinking of taking a little vacation, but we're not sure on any details yet." She explains. I try not to squeal with delight. Let's just say that my inside fangirl is very pleased with this newfound information.  

"That sounds like fun! But how would that work out with the tour and all though?" 

"We've talked about that. Management has agreed to up to a month of vacation time for everyone, and we'll just re-schedule all the tour dates that we missed. The catch is that we would have to add two more months to the tour as well." At this last bit of information, she sighs. I complettely understand. Being Zayn Malik's girlfriend isn't aall that glamorous, even if it may seem so.  

It's in this brief pause between our exchange of words that I faintly hear my favourite song playing in the background. Turning up the volume to the stereo, I mouth the words to Applause by Lady Gaga. I do mini-dance motions with my arms, and even Lil joins in by singing along. By the time the song ends, the two of us are smiling and laughing like idiots.  

This gets me to wondering if this is what close friends do. I've always wondered about this. What do best friends do? How do they act? I mean, of course I have a handful of friends from Heartney's, but we don't really hang out or talk unless it has something dance related.  

As Roar by katy perry ends on the radio, a new song begins. I find myself smiling as I listen and wiggle my bum around a little to I Can't Believe It. Lil catches on and does the same, well the best she can while simultaneously driving that is.  

We joke around with a variety of other songs until we reach the truck stop where the tour bus is parked. I invite Lil in, but she declines, saying that the lads and Mantha are expecting her so she best be on her way. Before she zooms away however, we hug and promise to get together and do something fun like go shopping soon.  

It's not until I'm walking through the door to the bus that I realize how tired I am. I mean, it's been a long day. Starting with Kelsey, Lily, and my prank on the boys to our awesome rehearsal which led to me watching the lads' rehearsal, then us going to Nandos where I was asked for my autograph and to take pictures with fans to being mobbed by paparazzu and then meeting ManthaMay and Lily-pad- who I have dubbed as Lil since Lily-pad is too long. Could a day get anymore perfect? I think not. 

"Della! It's about time you show up!" Kelsey announces. "Where have you been?" 

I suppress a long sigh of happiness,m settling for a worn-out smile instead. "It's been a long day. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow." And with that, I continue to the back of the tour bus, where our 'room' is.  

Sleepily, I change into my PJs. Then I settle into my bed, and instantly I've drifeted off to sleep.  

Hopefully tomorrow will be just as great as today was.
