What If? Arizona Spent 3 Years In Africa

Chapter 1: Leaving...

So this is my first time ever writing fanfiction! I would love for your feedback! I don't own much of the information within the first chapter.

The fighting hadn't just begun at the airport, it had been happening ever since Arizona first found out that she had been awarded the Carter-Maddison grant. Their eyes locked on each others, this conversation becoming too heartbreaking for either person too handle. "I..." Arizona started. "I don't want to go to Africa with you." There was no pause button and certainly no way to rewind what she had just said. Standing back in disbelief Callie could barely find the words to reply. "Arizona. No okay? No" The airport was becoming busy around them but in that moment it was only them that mattered. The blondes apology that came back did nothing to repair what she bad broken. "You're sorry? You're sorry?! It's three years!" Callie's voice was raising fearful of losing Arizona, she did what she did best, try and fight for her. There was a call for all passengers who were on the flight to Africa to meet at the gate. With one last rush of rage the latina beckoned at her girlfriend. "If you get on that plane, if you go without me, we are done. You hear me?" We are over." Both partners eyes were swollen with tears unable to fully comprehend what was happening. The blonde took her bag in her right hand and allowed herself to speak for one final time. "We are standing in the middle of an airport, screaming at each other. We are already over..." Arizona turned towards her plane, not looking back for a second even when so desperately wanted to. On the other hand Callie allowed tears to trickle down her cheeks. Their relationship which had been so perfect for over a year was over. No consoling would be able to heal what her ex had just done. So that was it, that would be the last conversation either girl had with each other for the next 3 years. So much would change for both person but here's the thing: Does change make the heart grow stronger or weaker?
