Sarah

"Sarah!" Trevor suddenly called out, startling her. Sarah quickly looked up to see Trevor's concerned expression and also realized that he had already pulled up to her apartment. It was dark out and crickets filled the nightly silence. She was so lost in her thoughts, she didn't even notice. "I'm sorry", she said quickly but before she could say anything else, Trevor put his hand on her shoulder. Startled again, Sarah tensed up. "Sarah, I was calling your name multiple times and had to raise my voice to get your attention, are you alright?" he asked firmly. His dark eyes met hers with so much intensity, it took everything Sarah had not to break out in sobs but she had to pull herself together. She knew he was sincere with his concern but she also knew he wasn't ready to hear the truth , and never would be. "Yes, I'm fine", she lied, using the calmest tone she could muster up.

He put down his hand from her shoulder and that gave Sarah the confidence she needed to continue the facade. "I just don't feel very well and have some things going on back home, it was just an overwhelming day," she continued, even giving him a small smile. She drowned her guilt by telling herself it wasn't a complete lie. He didn't say anything and dropped his eyes.

It was obvious he wasn't sure whether to believe her but that wasn't her problem. She wanted to go home and had to wrap this up. "I'm really tired, thank you for driving me, goodnight", she said in one breath and quickly got out of the car. She speed walked to her apartment, not bothering to look back at him. She didn't want to see his concerned face anymore , she didn't want to see the pity. That's all people could ever give her.

When Sarah opened her apartment door, instant relief flooded her and she collapsed on her couch. "Dammit" she muttered. She shouldn't have been so cold to him but she knew if she didn't leave her anxiousness would turn into anger at his persistence. He didn't deserve to see that nasty side of her.

What was worse was Mr. Pearson and Trevor probably thought she had finally snapped. Not that she could blame them with that scene she pulled, running out of the store and yelling frantically. All the customers were staring as Trevor ushered her into the back room. Sarah cringed when she remembered Mr. Pearson asking her if he should call 911.

What a mess.

She was such a big mess but she was so sure it was him. She was 100% sure it was him.

The clothes and the hair were very different but the eyes.

No one had eyes like that.

No one's eyes could pierce through her like that.

Sarah held herself tightly when recalling the scene. If only he hadn't vanished so suddenly. If only she caught up to him, so she could make sure. She wanted to make sure so bad. It had been years since the last time they met. Why was he coming back now? She wasn't even sure if he was real, if any of the journey was real. It had to be a dream, that's what logic told her. All these questioned had been zooming through her since the encounter. However, what burned through her brain the most was she didn't know if she wanted it all to be a dream.

"Dammit Sarah", she mumbled to herself again.

She was such a damn mess. The young daydreaming Sarah that recited stories to herself in the rain was still roaming around inside her now. That Sarah was the one that got her in this situation in the first place. She really needed to grow up. Daydreaming never got anyone anywhere.

With that as her last thought, Sarah closed her tired eyes, giving in to much deserved sleep and all she saw was blue.
