I finally managed to force my eyes open only to close them again. A bright, constant light was glaring and blinding me. After blinking a few times to get my eyes adjusted to the light, I began to take in my surroundings. White walls, white curtains, white ceiling…this is definitely not my room… I turned my head to the side and my gaze landed on a large machine producing a beeping noise.

A startled gasp escaped my lips when I realized I was in a hospital. My gaze dropped to my arm, where an I.V was attached to my wrist. Making a face, I quickly turned away from it. Needles weren’t my thing. An odd, unfamiliar scent was filling my nose. I struggled to move but my body felt like it weighed a thousand pounds. The more I strived to at least lift my hand, the heavier I felt.

“Courtney?” I recognized that faint voice, it was Hayley my friend….my only friend.

“Courtney are you okay, please look here.” I turned my head to the direction where the voice was coming from.

“Do you realize where you are?” she asked. I nodded, “And do you also realize that the police will be here any moment to investigate this?” I suddenly felt my heart pounding, about to beat out of my chest.

“Pol- police?” I asked stammering.

“Yes the police, do you know what a mess you’ve gotten yourself into?!” Hayley bellowed I was trembling furiously and biting on my bottom lip trying to calm myself.

“Okay so now that you’re awake and fidgety, could you please tell me what exactly happened and why I found you in the garage with a rope around your neck, when I came to visit?” Hayley furiously screamed throwing her arms in the air.

“I wanted to commit-” The word chocked in my throat. “Commit… suicide,” I let out in barely a whisper. I couldn’t believe I said that. I put my head in my palms which were now beaming with sweat.

“What Courtney? You wanted to what?!” Her voice cracked while she shrieked.

I lifted my head and looked into Hayley’s eyes, they were a mystery to me. Those eyes, she said she had inherited them from her grandfather. They were blue, a very pure, bright and sharp color of blue. Those eyes were always very cheery and joyful, but now they were full of grif, worry and sadness. She was wearing a pair of dark, blue skinny jeans and a pair of converse sneakers.

She paired the jeans with a gray sequined tunic and on the chair beside her lay a hip length classic black leather jacket.

My eyes shot straight back at her as she stood there crossed armed waiting for my response. Those blue eyes stared back at me.  Finally, with a deep sigh I began.  As if right on cue, the door opened, my mom and a man walked in.

“Courtney!” My mom cried she ran to my bedside and pulled me in a tight, long hug and kissed my forehead. “I thought I was going to lose you too.”  My Dad had passed away 10 years ago from a car accident and my Mom had become very over-protective and caring because she didn’t want me to feel alone.

When she let go, the man who was actually a police man came to my other bedside and held out his hand. “Hello Courtney, I’m Officer Logan.”

Surprisingly, lifting my hand perfectly this time shook it and responded
