Chapter 12

* Evaline *

I woke up on the ground of a unfimilar woods, sitting up and looking around. The air was foggy and it was dim, the sun was setting. Finally I felt better and I stood up, stupidly calling out, "hello?"

Why was I here? Last thing I remember is doing the dishes..

Suddenly a wolf appeared from the fog and mist, it looked at me. And then slowly made its way towards me, in a non treating manner. "Hello, Evaline." A voice said in my head. The voice sounded like a girl my age.

"Who are you? What's going on? Why am I here-" I rambled backing up, stumbling.

"Calm down. I'm your wolf, midnight. Your body has been triggered to shift early, which is not necessarily good because you are shifting prematurely. And that could cause a few problems but I'm doing everything I can to stop us from shifting. And I suppose Xavier is panicking and doing everything thing he can as well." The wolf, midnight, said in my head.

I nodded and looked at midnight, "but why am I shifting early? What triggered this?"

"Well your mate is near, the wolf goddess told me. She didn't tell me who it was, she said we'd find out when the time comes. But isn't it great?! I can't wait till we find our mate!" Midnight squealed in my head.

Mate? There was only two boys near me. Michael and Chris. Oh god. In that case I hope it's Michael.

Hours later I woke up slowly, my eyes fluttered open to see my dad asleep in a chair next to me. Michael was asleep in the corner, and a familiar man was awake. It was Nick! Our pack Doctor.

Nick smiled at me, "welcome back, how are you feeling?" He whispered glancing at my dad and Michael. "We all were worried about you. They never left your side." He whispered and looked at me again.

"I'm fine. Thanks nick." I said as I sat up and my dad started to wake up. I sat up and smiled squeezing his hand, "hey dad."

He woke up and his eyes snapped to me, "oh my baby." My dad said and pulled me into a hug. "Are you okay?" He asked when we pulled apart.

I nodded and as Maria and Rebeccah came in with a huge tray. "Oh thank god you are awake, it was so boring and depressing without you for three days!" Rebeccah said as they set the tray down.

Three days? I was out for there days?! "Three days? So today's Monday?!" I asked.

My dad nodded, "yes but you don't have to go to school until you feel fully comfortable to." He said causing me to smile and nod.

"There's breakfast on the tray for you all, and I made you a bagel, evaline." Maria said handing me a plate with a bagel on it. I always loved bagels. Ever since I was little, I would always load my bagels with extra cream cheese.

I started eating my bagel looking around, as everyone looked at me. The room weirdly silent, no one really knew what to say.

"So when did liz leave?" I asked breaking the silence.
My dad looked at me and smiled, "she left a few hours after it happened because her son had to leave before..." He trailed off.

"Before what?"

His eyes darkened. His facial expression hardening, "Before I beat his ass. He was challenging me. Little prick." Dad said clenching his fists.

Chris must have a death wish if he challenged my father.

It was now Wednesday and I think I'm ready to return to hell, also known as highschool. Getting up and putting my uniform on, I did my hair and everything, preparing for my first day back.

When everything was done, I went downstairs to see Michael and Rebbecah ready and downstairs. "I'm ready for school." I smiled and then Michael drove us to school.

I took a deep breath as we finally arrived at school. "You ready Eva?" Rebeccah asked, nodding at her as a response then I got out of the car. We walked into the school together only to be started at.

"Evaline!" A loud voice yelled and scared me, along with some others. I looked in the direction to see Trevor coming towards us causing me to smile. "Hey eva, how are you?" Trevor's mate asks beside him.

"I'm good, I missed you guys." I said and looked at them, they were such a cute couple. After greeting some pack members we all went to our lockers and on with our day.

History class came around and we were working on our projects for a little bit of class. Chris and I had nothing done and the project was due this Friday. When we had to get with our partners I looked over at him.

He made no attempt to move so I got up. Waking to him I pulled up a chair next to him and sat in it. He glared at me. What a surprise.

"Listen dude, I don't know what your problem with me is. But I'm not failing this project because you have a problem with me and your PMSing." I said and he glared at me harder.

"I don't fuckng care. If you want a good project just do it all yourself or with your boyfriend. I'll just put my name on it when it's done."

"Hell no! Do you like failing? Are you going to be a failure forever?" I raised an eyebrow.

Chris glared at me, "are you going to be annoying forever?" He backfired.

I got up and glared at him, "I'm not doing this." I said then walked away and sat on my desk. I felt his glare on me, so I moved and sat with Rebeccah and her partner.

A few minutes later i went to the bathroom. And when I came out of the stall and looked in the mirror, I saw a shadow that wasn't mine...
