Crystal POV

The spear soares through the air. I arm myself with my throwing knives and throw them. The knives hit someone though. But before I can see who is that, I decide to search for the spear. But someone stops me.

"Looking for this?" Carmen asks. Really, hunting can make her stir even at the slightest of sound. Usually, I would deal the final blow and she would find the prey. She was the tracker. I was the killer. But in this Games, she's both.

"I saw this Capitol boy. He threw this spear and.... and...." I stammer.

"He was targetting me. Thank Goodness he had failed miserably. The spear hit a branch that crashed right down on the ground. I was awaken when the spear got stuck on the branch. I removed it and came here." Carmen finishes.

"So, did you kill him? Or at least injure him?" Carmen asks.

"I'm not sure." I mutter.

We walk towards the boy. He hasn't been surviving well though. Ribs are protuding out of his body and my knife is lodged in his knee. I'm not the best knife thrower in the dark but this is good enough.

Carmen peers at his injury and says,

"So, what do you want to do with him? He can still kill, with the proper medications."

"Let's kill him." I hiss.

"This is your decision. I don't want to kill anymore. You make the final blow then." Carmen coldly replies.

I take my knife and mutter,

"Sorry. I had to do this. I want you to feel no more pain. I want you to stop playing the Capitol's Games."

He's crying right now. I wipe his tears away as he whispers,

"Thank You."

I throw the knife straight at his throat. He closes his eyes before I see him stop breathing. The cannon fires. He's dead. This is my second kill.

Carmen is looking at me proudly.

"You did what was right. I would kill him. To allow him to be free. To go to the Glory of Heaven." She tells me.

Right now, I'm in a ball. Crying my eyes out, I stand and lean on Carmen's shoulder.

"Stop. Erase those tears. You can't do this. It's the Games. Thinking of it as killing for food. You can't cry for the Dead. You release them." Carmen comforts.

I wipe away my tears. That Capitol Boy is in a better place now. The Hovercraft will come in a moment to pick him up. He's going back to his family.

"I'll guard. You look shaken." Carmen tells me.

I object but she carries me up onto the tree she was sleeping on. She puts a finger to my lips and I obey. I close my eyes and fall into a land filled with dreams.

Carmen POV

I take the boy's backpack before I see the Hovercraft come. In his backpack, there is only his two knives and a few crackers. I wonder how he survived the day. It's already morning. But I don't want Crystal to be sleep-deprived. I'll allow her to sleep in. Right now, it's time for my hunting trip. Animals especially. I don't want to kill anymore. I don't want to.

Every since I killed Kimberley, I have had bad dreams. About my killing, my victims. They haunt me. I just can't sleep. That's why I stir easily. It's not because I'm skilled in hunting. I can't think of having a good sleep. But hunting may make me feel better.

I go over to "District 11". It has a abundance of fruits, vegetables, just like what the District has. However, I know they are poisoned. They are no tributes here. It's poisoned alright.

I still grab some berries called nightlock though. Hopefully, someone will ambush us and I'll disarm them and stuff nightlock into their mouths. Dead in seconds.

I go over to "District Ten", where I see many tributes. I do kill off two of them, after being too close to me with their weapons. In "District Ten",there are barely any animals. The tributes are all snacking on them.

Just as I manage to get a groosling, I hear them. They, with the dead tributes' eyes, are chasing us down. They are the mutts.
