Best birthday present

Ashley's father didn't return from his flight.
They thought they would never see him again...
But... There's always a but...

Adams pov

'... What happened' I asked myself. 'Where am I?' I stood up. My leg hurt. I could barely walk. 'The plane.' I was looking at the plane and he was whole in little pieces.
'What now?' I asked myself. I couldn't take my eyes of the plane.
I was thirsty. There was no water around. I was in Sahara, the biggest dessert on the planet.
'Ashley's birthday can't start without me.' I was sad.
Just then I heard a helicopter. 'I'm saved!'
I looked up and the helicopter was flying right to London.
"Here! Over here! Help me! Please! Help! Come here!"
They really saw me. A smile appeared on my face.
A man helped me to get on and I was so thankful.
"Thank you. I count thank you enough." "No problem. I love helping other people."
I told them what happened with my plane and why I was in the middle of Sahara. They asked me where I need to go.
"To London." I said. "We'll be there soon." Said the man.
I felt so happy and I couldn't wait to see my princess.

Ashley's pov

~meanwhile~

I woke up a little late. I usually wake up earlier.
I went to the bathroom.

...

I walked out and heard granny talking. It was coming from the living room. I slowly opened the door and...
"Surprise! Happy birthday Ashley!"
They all screamed at the same time. And I heard Jacky say
"I luv ya" I hugged him. I faked a smile and said "Thank you all." I was still missing daddy. "But this is not really a birthday." They looked at me and then granny said "Your daddy wishes you a happy birthday too, sweety." I smiled again.
They made me breakfast. Eggs and toast with butter. It was definitely good.
Then I wanted to open my presents.
I'm just going to say what they bought me.
Granny gave me a nice book. She know I love reading.
I got lots of new clothing from Zack and Mark.
My uncle got me a big teddy bear who says "I love you".
Jacky's present was a kiss on the cheek.
And aunt Maria got me a cake. When she brought out the cake I almost fainted. "It is such a chocolate cake!" I said and they all laughed. It was really a nice round chocolate cake with lots of chocolate on top. It was just... Chocolate!
I took a picture of it and saved it in my box of memories.
I loved it but I couldn't eat a whole slice. It was too much chocolate. And have I mentioned that the cake was made of chocolate? Crazy right?
After a while we all couldn't eat anything.
The presents were all great. I wonder what daddy would have brought me...
We were talking and laughing. We couldn't listen to music because it's not nice to do that when someone dies.
I started to wonder if Lauren is back home, and if yes did she see granny's house? I wonder how the house looks like now. It wasn't complete. We had to wait two more days.

Someone rang at the door. 'Who could that be?' I wondered. Aunt Maria opened the door.
She screamed. Granny ran to her and I heard her saying "Oh my God! Are you OK?"
They walked towards the living room. They opened the door. My eyes opened widely when I saw...
"Daddy!" I jumped on him. He hugged me and I cried.
"I'm OK princess. Happy birthday."
This was the best birthday present ever!
Daddy told us what happened. I was so happy that the men in the helicopter saved him.
Daddy's leg was a little hurt, so we went in the park without him.
There was a wonderful sunset. The sky was blue, purple, pink and orange. I was in my new white dress. I felt like a real princess.

...

Later I saw a girl who seemed to know me. She waved at me but she was too far away so I couldn't tell who she was.
She came closer and... Oh my goodness it was Lauren!
"Hi Lauren!" "Hi Ashley! Happy birthday!" "Thank you."
She gave me a present. "Wow. You got me a present too?" "That's what friends do." We both smiled.
I gave the present to daddy and went to play with my one and only friend.
She told me how her weekend was. "The beach is so nice! We should go there together once." "Yeah. That would be cool." I said already imagining that day.
"Lauren! We gotta go home now. C'mon." "Coming mom. Well I need to go now... Bye. See you soon." "Bye. And thanks again" She just smiled.
Daddy took me to a shop to buy me something for my birthday even though I told him that I don't need one. He was there and that was my present.
He bought me a nice doll with blonde hair and blue eyes. She had a red short dress and black heels. I named her Lucy.

...

We went back home and got ready for bed. I was so tired.
Daddy gave me a goodnight kiss and I slept in.

I was dreaming daddy, mommy, Jacky and me going on a trip. It was a nice and sunny day. We saw a unicorn. It was pink and had purple eyes. I rode it but I fell down. Mommy told me it's OK just a little scratch. I smiled at her. Then granny came and gave me some chocolate cake with cookies and milk. I looked at the sky and saw a flying fish. It was red and it could speak. I also dreamed granny's cat Lily. She hissed at Jacky and he cried. I slapped the cat and it died. Funny dream...

I was so happy that daddy got back feeling well. He didn't die after all. I hope he will live long and be happy. It was a nice fifth birthday. I only wish mommy was here. I just wanna see her... I miss her a lot.

... Granny's house got fixed again! I can't wait to see how it turned out...
