Chapter 13

Lux POV

Just as the berries is about to reach my mouth, an arrow shoots the berries. The berries fly back and are stuck onto a tree's trunk.

"You stupid idiot! Those are nightlock! Dead before they reach your precious tummy!" Carmen hisses at me.

"Sorry. I'm from the Capitol. How was I supposed to know?" I retort.

"You shut your mouth, you worthless brat! You don't know these berries. I took them for the poison, you idiot!" Carmen snarls back.

I groan at her and she throws a knife directly beside my head.

"Shut it, you little ass!" She hollers.

"Stop it, both of us!" Crystal screeches.

We both shut up and Crystal goes to talk to Carmen. I, on the other hands, snacks on our crackers and beef. Then, I actually decides to heed Carmen's earlier advice and take a rest.

Carmen POV

" I'm pissed. I saved Lux. But what does he do? Doesn't he know the logic of if you don't know what the hell are those, you don't eat them?" I reply Crystal. After that fight, she has been talking to be about this.

"He's from the Capitol...." She continues.

"Shut it! Okay, Crystal! I don't want to hear your lecture. LEAVE ME IN PEACE! I HATE THIS! I HATE THAT HE"S FROM THE CAPITOL! DOESN'T HE HAVE SURVIVAL INSTINCTS?" I holler. I don't want to talk about this.

"Alright. I'll check on Lux." She mutters before leaving me.

I decide to take off to "District Ten" where I see the gore. I see blood everywhere. The mutts, they're gone, but the blood is still here. There is no animals left. So, I head back to District 4 to fish for some food.

Just as I'm about to leave, a voice rings through my ears and I feel a knife pressed against my back.

"Leave. Or else."

Crystal POV

As I leave Carmen, I go back to Lux who is fast asleep on a tree. He's cuddled up nicely and is sleeping soundly.

"Babe, wake up." I say while shaking him awake.

"What? Oh right, its about your sister, isn't it?" He says. He is extremely annoyed.

"Yes, but she doesn't mean whatever she says." I reason.

"SO? Does this mean she can yell and scream at me for whatever crazy reason she has? I'm lucky to be born in the Capitol. I can't choose my fate. Nor can you. Or her!" Lux sceeches.

"But-" I explain.

"I don't want to talk about this. Later she might kill me. Can you see her expertise on archery? She's a lunatic. She's killed 8 people. I wouldn't be surprised if I WAS DEAD BY MORNING!" Lux says dismissly.

"FINE THEN! YOU WANT TO PLAY THAT GAME? CARMEN ISN'T A LUNATIC, YOU IDIOT! SHE WON'T KILL YOU UNTIL THE END!" I scream back. How dare my boyfriend call my sister a lunatic! He's the one not right in the head. She's not a lunatic. She doesn't promote cannibalism. She's my sister and no one, not even my boyfriend shall call her anything but good.

"But babe-" Lux starts.

"Shut it! I'm leaving. Fend for yourself, you little coward. You haven't even killed anyone. Or anything. Carmen catches our meals! Try being her for once!" I yell.
