Chapter 1
Andy
Einstein once said, 'Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.'
You know the Chrysler building? First building in the world over a thousand feet? Tallest building in the world from nineteen thirty to thirty one?
Well at that very moment in time, I was there. At the highest possible point for any human to be on that particular building.
Don't ask how because even I can't answer that question. It was like an other worldly force was driving me to walk seven steps forward then turn left, twenty two steps forward and another left. Climb a couple of hundred, maybe thousand, steps. I don't know how many because I lost count after fourth three. Then boom here I am.
So back to want Einstein said some decades ago. At this moment I'm staring at my reality. Looking down there's thousands of people bustling about in a way only New Yorkers know how. Hundreds of cars piled up in a famous New York traffic jam.
And yet here I sit above all the noise. God, the cacophony of never ending noise. This is my reality. And so many other people's illusion.
There they are walking/driving/running to work or whatever their daily activity may be. Like robots, or a flock of birds. There they all are walking in a choreographed society doing what is expected of them. The worst part is they don't even realise. These poor souls are living in an illusion that is labelled reality. And I remember.
I'm Andrea (please call me Andy) Elizabeth Dreyer. And life makes me tired.
