College. It's weird how everything changes when you're old enough to go to college. You have to move away from home. You have to earn your own money. And you have to take care of yourself without having to depend on your parents or your family.
Luckily Alicia was starting of in College with her three best friends; Natalie, Sophie and Amelia. Both Natalie and Amelia were studying to become teachers, Sophie was studying to become a doctor and Alicia was studying marketing.
Right this moment the girls were stood on campus, all of them pulling their suitcases out of Amelia's trunk. They all had their license, but only Amelia were lucky enough to have a car. Well lucky may not be the right word. She was the only one who had been reasonable enough to save up during high school so she could buy a car during their senior year.
"So where are we going?" Amelia asked after she'd made sure her car was locked. She was holding her suitcase in one hand, and the other was balancing five books and on top of that her art supplies. She was dressed in skinny jeans, a denim shirt and her brown curls were hanging loosely out from her black beret.
Just as Alicia was about to speak up a petite and bit older looking girl came skipping over, holding a clipboard in one hand and the other clutching a whole bunch of keys. "Give me your names please"
"I'm Alicia Oran. And this is Amelia Martins, Sophie Rodes and Natalie Steven" Alicia said, pointing to each one as she said their names. Each girl gave an approving nod for emphasis.
"Great!" the girl chirped, smiling widely at each one of them "I'm Tara!" Alicia got a bit freaked out by the girl, considering her enthusiasm seemed to grow by each word she spoke. "It looks like Natalie and Amelia are sharing a room" She smiled, handling each of them a set of keys. "And-" she stopped, her eyes scanning the page once more "you two are sharing a room".
After handing all of them their keys, telling them where each fitted where and making sure they all had a copy of the campus rules, she skipped of in the direction of two quite confused looking girls.
"Alright! Let's find our rooms!" Natalie chirped, obviously trying to imitate the girl. They all laughed, Amelia still clutching the tall stack of supplies in her arms.
When Sophie and Alicia got to their room Alicia immediately flopped down on one of the beds. Of course she made sure it was the better one first. The room was quite small, but the view was fantastic. The campus park could be seen from the window, with all the small campus shops and people scattered on the lawn. Some were reading and some chatting with their friends. It was surprising to see people already reading the first pages of their schoolbooks.
"The bathroom is.. nice" Sophie hesitated as she poked her head out of the door, her nose all scrunched up. "I'll manage. If you clean the toilet"
"Me? Why me?" Alicia asked, shocked that Sophie put her on cleaning duty already the first five minutes they'd been there.
"You know how I hate germs. I can't handle that" Her face turned all disgusted again before she disappeared back in to the bathroom.
"I'm not the only one who's pooping in there," Alicia yelled, laughing as Sophie made a loud grunting sound.
Alicia lent back against the wall behind her bed just as the door of their room flew open and in marched Natalie. She was breathing heavily, clutching her stomach as she reached Alicia's bed. "I beat her!"
"Beat her? Who? Amelia?" Sophie asked, her tall frame emerging from the bathroom. She headed straight for her large bag, starting to rummage through.
"Yeah, we raced from our dorm"
"Aha!" Sophie smiled widely as she pulled her speakers from her bag, placing it carefully on her nightstand. Then she turned to Natalie, chuckling a little. "Your room is right down the hall. She should've been here by now"
As on cue Amelia emerged in the doorway, her breath not at all as heavy as Natalie's had been a minute earlier. "You are so weird Natalie. You ran of before I had the chance to react. I didn't even bother running after you"
"You lazy ass" Natalie said, rolling her eyes.
"Yeah right" Amelia chuckled, pointing at the bag hanging of her right shoulder. "I'm of to the gym. Anyone care to join me?"
"Already? We haven't even made our beds" Alicia complained. Being the lazy one out of the four she never understood the eagerness the three other girls had to keep fit. Of course she tried her best eating healthy, but the exercise seemed a little bit too much for her taste.
Amelia laughed, turning to head for the door. "I just want to get today's exercise done with so I can use the rest of the day to decorate our room"
"Alright, have fun!" Sophie yelled after her, just as the door slammed shut and Amelia was out of hearing range. She then turned to the two other girls left in the room. "Anyone care to join me exploring this place?"
"Hell yeah!" squealed Natalie, jumping up from Alicia's bed where she'd planted her self a few minutes earlier. "Let's do this"
Sophie and Alicia followed as Natalie marched out the door, chuckling at her eagerness. Natalie kept her act up throughout the hall, marching through it like she was a part of the army.
"Wow! So this is the hallway. I didn't notice its glory when I ran, I mean walked, through it earlier" she waved her hands around, making the people walking by chuckle.
After about an hour of walking around they found a cute little coffee shop a little bit away from their dorm rooms. It had small vintage tables scattered around, with comfy chairs surrounding them. The walls were white with gorgeous pink flowers. The music got calmer as they walked further in the back, where people where sat studying while sipping on big cups of coffee.
"I love this place!" Natalie shrieked, getting really excited that she had found a place to study outside the dorm and all the study halls. Due to her yelling all the heads whom were not wearing headphones snapped up, glaring at the noise she made. She threw her hands up quickly in surrender. "Sorry. Keep on studying. You're doing great".
With another glare from the students they all walked back to the main area of the cafe, deciding to buy themselves something to drink.
When the three of them walked out a couple of hours later Natalie noted the name of the shop, deciding that they would show it to Amelia and officially make it their new favorite place.
