Holly’s P.O.V.

Tears tumbled down my cheeks like waterfalls; I ran and ran, wanting to scream and just fall on the floor and die, then and there. I ran all the way home, and then I pounded up to my bedroom, jumping on my bed and sobbing. Luckily, my parents were out, so I could scream and shout all I liked, letting my anger out.

How could he do this to me? I loved him so much, and he went ...and kissed another girl. Was he cheating on me? I hated him for doing this to me! No I didn’t, I loved him. But I hated him too! Many different emotions darted round my body and brain and heart. I felt so confused.

I stood up on my bed, ripping down all my posters, until I was lying in a mess of torn paper. I wailed, cried, and sobbed, tears streaming down my face.

So this is what it’s like to be heartbroken, I thought.

About an hour later, I heard a knock at the door. I wiped away my tears with the back of my hand, and slowly went downstairs to answer the door. I pulled it open, and stood there, was Zayn, sadness in his brown eyes. I went to turn away, but he put his hand on my arm...

“Zayn, leave me alone.” I muttered.

“Girl I see it in your eyes, you’re disappointed,” Zayn sang softly. “’Cause I’m the foolish one that you anointed with your heart, I tore it apart...”

I stopped, crossing my arms and frowning.

“And girl what a mess I made upon your innocence, and no woman in the world deserves this.” He took hold of my hand, stepping closer towards me. “But here I am, asking you for one more chance.”

“Forget it, Zayn.” I mumbled, pulling my hand away.

“Can we fall? One more time? Stop the tape, and rewind?”

“No,” I said bluntly, turning to walk away.

“Oh, but if you walk away I know I’ll fade...”

“Yeah, sure. Or you could just go give that girl a call.”

“’Cause there is nobody else...”

“That’s why you kissed another girl, is it?”

“It’s gotta be you.... only you... It’s gotta be you.... only you...” Zayn sang, ignoring my remarks.

It was only then did I properly look at him, and notice that his cheeks were wet with tears.

“I screwed up.” He said, his voice trembling. “I’m so sorry, Holly. But I love you. Please forgive me...”

“How can I?” I hissed. “You’re just going to break my heart again...”

“No I’m not!” Zayn said, and I was about to close the door, but he stopped it with his hand. He was too strong.

“Listen. Holly. Please, just listen.” He said. He took hold of both of my hands again. This time, I didn’t let go. “I love you, okay? I love you, so much. You’re my world. You mean everything to me. These past two days have been the best in my life. Please, don’t let my stupid ex girlfriend come between that. She grabbed me, she kissed me, and I know I should have stopped it, but I couldn’t... I guess I was imagining it was you...”

“Did you enjoy it?” I interrupted him. “Did you enjoy the kiss?”

“No...” he said, but something about the tone of his voice made me think he was lying. “Because I knew it wasn’t you.”

“Well...” I said slowly. “You’re gonna enjoy this a hell of a lot more.” I grabbed him by the shoulders, pulling him in closer, as our lips met. I smiled as he wrapped his arms around me, using one arm to push the door closed.

I looked up at him. “I love you, Zayn Malik.” I whispered.

“Do you forgive me?” He asked quietly.

“Yes... but if it ever happens again...”

“I know, I know. I’m history.” He said, and we both laughed.

I never wanted to let him go.
