It was a cold spring afternoon. High in the mountains sat an old mansion. Around it grew a dark forest for many miles, surrounding it completely. Between the forest and the mansion a green field spread with no path in sight. The mansion in grand and its porch is very large. On said porch sat a young girl sipping a hot drink that smelled of strange herbs.
The girl's hair was long and black, while her skin was very pale. Her eyes were a piercing amethyst and had a bored look in them. Her features were soft and youthful. The girl's ears had silver earrings in them, more than one, and her fingers were decorated with many silver rings. Her fingernails were black, greatly contrasting with her soft, pale hands. Her toes and ankles were also adorned with silver accessories. Around her neck she wore a choker with a peculiar pendant on it, which controlled her powers from getting out of hand.
Her clothes consisted of a long strapless black dress that stopped a bit above her ankles, a soft shawl around her shoulders and a black lace blindfold that made it difficult to properly see her eyes.
The girl's whole appearance was other-worldly.
The reason for this was simple.
The girl was a witch.
Not those old creepy granny's that cursed people right and left. Her power was much greater. Those people are simply some magic users that misunderstand what being a witch truly is. True witches have unlimited potential and a greater understanding of the world. In reality, the world is in their hands. They have control over the living and the dead and many secrets are known to them, but not everyone can be a witch, nor does every witch survive. The power is immense, but also something to be used only by those who could handle it. Whether it's dealing with the dead or trying to get into the minds of the living, a witch's power is dangerous not only for others, but for the witch as well.
The girl let out a heavy sigh and looked up, placing her cup next to her. Living in such a place would be lonely for anyone else, but not her.
The girl had lived for a few years with her family, until they realized what she was.
She had always been different.
Her gaze was strange, as if she understood everything and knew even more.
She never cried. She would simply sit and watch the things going on around her with a thoughtful look.
On her fifth birthday she simply touched the snow; which had fallen the night before, creating a thick white layer of snowflakes for a far as the eyes could see. The snow around the girl melted and was replaced by a small meadow of unknown crimson flowers. As soon as the girl's feet touched a new patch of snow, the flowers would make their way through the frost and decorate the white blanket.
The poor girl had been born into a family of werewolves, but she wasn't one of them.
She had inherited her grandmother's blood and it overpowered all of the wolf's blood in her. She wasn't a werewolf with magic abilities like her siblings, she was a pureblood witch, and they were afraid of her.
So they abandoned her. They left her with a mansion, far away from society and disappeared.
Thirteen years passed since then. But the girl did not miss them. She never felt her parents' sincere love and affection and she felt happy even without it.
She heard someone calling her and turned to find the two beings, whose existence she sustained. Two young souls, whose bodies she created five years ago with an ancient magic spell.
Their souls had been wandering the forest. Many years ago they had been murdered for having blue eyes, a trait rare in their village, by the people who believed them to be monsters. Their souls never found rest, so she gave them bodies of magic clay. They couldn't remember their names, so she gave them new ones.
"Mikiri, Maruru, you are finally awake. " The young girl quietly said as she motioned for them to sit next to her.
The two girls happily complied.
Mikiri, a girl that looked no older than ten with short cherry-brown hair and deep dark blue eyes. She sat down and covered herself with one side of the black shawl. Her dress was white and soft and her feet were covered with a pair of white fluffy boots.
Maruru, a girl that looked about seven years old with long wavy black hair and greyish-blue eyes. She sat down and hugged the young witch's waist, earning her a soft pat on her head. Her dress was ivory and looked a bit like a ballerina's. She wore boots just like Mikiri.
They sat that way for a little while, before it started to get dark.
Suddenly, a howl was heard coming from the woods. Lately, hearing howls during the night had become normal and she couldn't help but wonder if wolves had made the woods their new home. Or maybe they weren't just wolves....
The howling became a bit more desperate and it sounded is if the poor animal was in pain. The sound wasn't coming from very far off, so the witch decided find out what was making such a sound.
"Mikiri, Maruru, go inside and wait for me. Don't leave the house, alright? I will be back soon."
"Okay." The two girls said in unison.
The witch nodded and began to make her way towards the dark woods. She followed the howls and whimpers until she found their source. A young wolf cub. When she approached it, the cub growled, but the pain caused him to let out a whimper. Its leg had been injured pretty badly.
"Can I help you? I won't hurt you, you can trust me." The young witch said, reaching her hand out to the hurting animal.
The wolf lifted its gaze and looked at her as if it understood her and she got a good look at his golden eyes.
The cub wasn't just a wolf, it was a werewolf.
The witch kneeled down next to the wounded animal and gently petted its head, earning her a satisfied purr. The cub moved closer to her and nuzzled into her side.
"Can I take you home? I want to help you with your wound."
The cub carefully climbed onto her lap and purred.
"I will take that as a yes."
She wrapped her shawl around it and swiftly carried the cub back to her mansion, not knowing that three pairs of eyes were watching her from a distance...
