"So you girls ready to start school today?", was the first question our mom asked us while we sat at the kitchen island and ate our breakfast. Me and my sister looked up at her and gave her a "fuck no" face, and mom immediately laughed.

"You girls act as if school is hell", she giggled.

"It is, basically", we both said together.

"I don't get why we have to just now start school, I liked being home schooled. More peaceful--", I got cut off.

"Less fake people", Roxanne stated, stabbing her last piece of waffle and eating it, picking up her orange juice afterwards.

I pointed to her and nodded. "True shit".

"Hey!", mom swatted my hand gently. "Language".

"Sorry mom", I stood up and kissed her cheek , placing my dish in the sink and turning around, pulling out my phone and checking my notifications.

"Well anyways, you've got five minutes and then I'll drive you girls to school. Chop, chop!", she clapped her hands which made me break out of my zone and jump, looking up at her from my phone. I always hated when she did that because it was scary, well that's not even the scariest thing when it came to her. The scariest thing ever is when she texts you and tells you to take out the chicken so it could unthaw and do your chores and you completely forget when she's like five minutes away from the house.

"Fine", I groaned and watched my sister walk besides me, placing her dish in the sink as well.

She pats my shoulder. "S'okay sissy, can't be all that bad. I know we're just used to being home schooled and all but it doesn't hurt to try and actually socialize".

"I don't like people", I rolled my eyes.

"That's because you're fucking mean!", she slapped my forehead and I slapped her back, us both laughing.

"Girls let's go! It's seven thirty!", mom yelled and I rolled my eyes because that's another thing she does that I can't stand.

"Let's go mami", Roxanne pulled my arm, us both grabbing our book bags and heading out the door to our mom's brand new Audi that she had gotten from dad for her birthday.

Thankfully it had bluetooth, and that aux cord.

I raced my sister to get the front seat and I won obviously. She sucked her teeth started cursing at me in Spanish which I'm glad I understood well. I plugged the aux cord to my phone and turned on The Weeknd, at which my mother rolled her eyes at.

"Mom just face it, he has good songs", I argued with her.

"I know that, I just don't like that fact that he sounds like he's crying", she pulls out the drive through.

I groaned obnoxiously. "Ugh, he does not! He sounds like an angel".

"True dat. Play the birds part one", Roxanne suggested and I nodded and scrolled on my spotify playlist until I found it. Me and Roxanne started moving our hips in our seats as we danced to the beat, lip singing the song to one another as we pointed to our mom, pretending that our phones were microphones. Mom started laughing in the process as she tapped her fingers on the steering wheel to the beat.

She lowkey loved it.

When we arrived at the school, mom turns down the music and I pout sadly because my song was on.

She laughs at my reaction. "C'mon, get out muffins. Time for school".

I watched Roxanne step out of the car but I stayed inside, crossing my arms childishly.
