"Justin.." Alexis awoke me softly, shaking my arm. I sat up once my eyes were open and took the jacket off my body with my free hand. "What's wrong, Baby?" I asked turning towards her, trying to crack my aching back at the same time. She pulled gently on my arm and looked between the bed and me. "Lay with me.. Please." I smiled warmly at her and didn't hesitate to climb on the bed. She moved over to give me room and relaxed on top of my chest the moment I was settled. I admit I am still tired and would have liked to sleep longer but I don't mind her waking me up. My eyelids combined needingly and I happily held her in my arms while my body began relaxing into sleep again. Alexis planted a kiss on my cheek, which made me reopen my eyes to see her smiling, and rested her chin on my shoulder. I chuckled as she stared at me and stroked my fingers through her soft hair. "What?" "Nothing, I just have an extremely handsome husband." "Oh really?" A grin appeared upon my lips. "Really. I wish I could stare at you all day." She giggled along with me at her choice of words and pressed another kiss to my jaw. "I could say the same for my gorgeous wife." Alexis's smiled stayed for a few more seconds but then dropped. After all these years of knowing her I know when something's going on in her mind. "..Are you used to calling me that yet?" "My wife? Well.. not fully. Why do you ask?" She shrugged and laid her head on my chest again. "Just curious. I didn't want to be the only one who wasn't used to it by now... Can I ask you something else? It may sound harsh but I don't intend it that way." "Ask away." Fear sprung in me slightly at her words. What in the world was she about to ask? "Can we go back home after this? I don't mean to end your family time early. It's just.. I-" "Alexis, it's fine. You need to be home anyways." We intertwined our hands and ended our conversation. We both really needed rest right now and that's what we got.
Hours later I awoke to whispering. I wanted to pretend to be asleep still and eavesdrop but I couldn't do that to Alexis. She could be talking about an issue that's personal and doesn't want me to hear about. I respect her privacy. I adjusted my eyes to the small amount of light in the room and sat up. The aching in my back was already returning. Hospitals need better beds more than anything. "How far along?" Alexis questioned the doctor calmly, too calmly that is. "Three weeks tomorrow." "Wonderful..." Sighing, Alexis banged her head against the pillows as if they were a wall. What did the doctor mean by three weeks along though? That's something you usually hear about pregnancy, and there's no way possible Alexis is pregnant. "What's going on?" I interrogated when my curiosity became too much. Alexis's eyes widened when she realized I was listening and again she just sighed and collapsed into the sheets. "Nothing, Justin." I turned to the doctor for answers but sensing Alexis wanted the news kept private, he kept his lips sealed and exited to the room. Lovely. I mentally rolled my eyes. Now there's two things that Alexis is hiding from me.

Within the next two days all test results were back, also kept from my acknowledge, and Alexis was free to leave. We went straight back to my Aunt's and Uncle's and I gathered our things before we said our goodbyes and headed out. From there on we caught a flight home and things continued to change down hill. Alexis wouldn't say a word to me about her results and when the subject was brought up, she'd immediately change it. Why didn't she want to tell me? Once again she would just say, "Wait until Father's Day, Justin." She claims she'll be fine, yet her moods kept switching from nervousness to surprise, sometimes even joy- a new kind of joy I'd never seen in her. I didn't know rather I should be worried or what. Eventually, as bad as it sounds, I gave up and let her sleep for the rest of the flight. I know I shouldn't have just given up but.. I didn't want to upset her or start a fight. Plus she needs rest. But I will find out.Any comments please? I know it's short, sorry.
Some of you may be catching on to what's going on. (;
