3rd Person POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone's in bed asleep, except for The little girl Charlotte. She is sitting in her bed thinking "what had she done to be abused and treated like utter garbage?" Her thick red hair is sticking to her bruised and tear stained face. He blue eyes blood shot from crying so much.
Earlier that day
she had been doing somethings around the house like her parents told her to, but her dad apparently didn't like the way she was doing it so he pushed her to the ground and yelled "YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A WASTE OF SPACE YOU LITTLE BITCH!" He kicked her as hard as he could and walked out of the room.The little 8 year old whimpering on the ground wasn't surprised he did something like this again, for he finds a reason to everyday.
While she was laying on the floor her mom walked in and scoffed and told her to finish the dishes. She replied with a shaky "ok" and gets up grunting in pain while doing so. Her mom stalks across the room and slaps her across the face. "YOU WILL ANSWER YES M'AM TO ME WHEN I TELL YOU TO DO SOMETHING. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" "Yes m'am the little girl hiccuped and went to the sink to get everything done.
When she finished her parents inspected every dish to make sure it was washed to perfection, of corse her being a little girl she missed a spot or two, but that didn't stop her parents from their "punishments" for not doing it right in the first place.
Her mom grabbed Charlotte by the ear and dragged her into the living room and threw her to the ground. "You've done fucked up again today girl." Her mom growled. Her dad walks in and goes to the draw Charlotte feared.It's where Dad keeps his whip...
As the whip cracked down against her skin she let out a loud yelp in pain. "WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO TEAR THIS FAMILY APART?!" Her dad roars.
After a few minuets of the beatings by the whip, they send Charlotte up to her room without any food.
Once she got to her room she layed out on her bed and cried for what seemed like hours till the moon was lighting up the sky.
Back To Charlotte in her bed
She's finally stopped crying and wiped the tears away when she hears something happening down the hall where her parents room is. Scarred she's going to receive another beating she quietly runs to her closet and pulls up a floor board that's loose and gets in.
She discovered the little secret hiding place about a year ago when cleaning, it's about four times the size of her so she has plenty of room. She places the floor board back in place and grabs her favorite stuffed cow.
After about and hour of hearing a commotion coming from her parents room she hears foot steps come closer too her room. Her bedroom door creeks open, and a big stranger wearing a black mask walks in he looks under the bed and in the closet for anybody but doesn't know about the secret floor board.
His foot steps fade away as he leaves her room and goes into the main part of the house. She lets out a shaky breath and decides to wait till morning to leave her sanctuary.
An hour or so later she starts to smell smoke. She has always feared the house burning down so she had a small bag with important things in it. She grabs it and her cow. Gets out of the hole in the floor and puts her shoes on.
She runs to her parents room to tell them the house is on fire but when she opens their door her eyes are met with a horrendous sight, her parents bloody mangled body's laying in the floor. She backed out quickly and made a run downstairs for the front door. But it was blocked by flames, she ran to the back of the house and goes into her dad's office. It had a window she could escape out of. While she was trying to open the window the flames started to eat through the door of her dad's office.
Giving up, she grabs the lamp off the desk and throws it at the window. It shatters into a million little pieces. She carefully but quickly stepped out the window and into the black night.
The nearest neighbors where at least a mile away and she had to call the police so she slung her bag over her shoulder tucked her cow into the waistband of her pants and ran all the way to the Wilsons residence.
It took her about 13 minutes to get there and she was on the front porch panting. She rung the door bell and knocked vigorously until a sleepy looking Mrs.Wilson opened the door. One look at the little girl and Mrs.Wilson pulled her inside.
As Charlotte told MRS.Wilson what happened the older lady was talking to the police over the phone saying everything that Charlotte said. Mrs.Wilson went up stairs to get Mr.Wilson so they could drive over to Charlottes house and meet the police there.
When they came down they all piled into the car and made the short ride to her house. When they got there, There was fire trucks and ambulances and police cars everywhere. The Chief ran over to her as She stepped out of the vehicle and gazed up at her house. It was almost all gone...
The chief had her tell him everything that happened that night. He said she was very brave and smart at what she had done.
Once the fire was put out they thanked the Wilsons for calling and bringing her back to them and
They took her to the police station.When they got there they went into an office where they looked for any family Charlotte could go to but she had no one.
They decided that she would be put into the cities orphanage in the morning, the chief took her home and let her sleep in his guest bedroom for the night.
In the morning the Chiefs wife had cooked breakfast and told Charlotte that she would take her to the store to get somethings she needed before she had to go to the orphanage.
She took her into a store and got her 7 sets of clothes. And some soaps and hygiene stuff. She then took her into the shoe store and got her a cheap pair of tennis shoes.
Charlotte was so grateful to the chief and his wife. She hugged the stuffing out of them and thanked then endlessly for everything that they had done for her.
Soon it was time for her to be dropped of at the orphanage. The drive up there was short and when they got there it looked kind of gloomy. Once inside the chief explained what happened to the Lady behind a huge desk and she smiled and said there was plenty of room for Charlotte.
Charlotte said her last goodbye to the chief and his wife before the lady behind the desk showed her where her room was.
Once they got to the room the lady said that she was going to be sharing with three other girls and that she was very sorry about what happened. She also explained that everybody was off doing their daily chores and stuff so she had some time to get settled before tonight.
Charlotte thanked the lady endlessly and walked into the room. She made her way over to the unoccupied bed. There was a small table with drawers under it next to the bed. And a truck underneath for her stuff.
She opened the trunk and pulled out the sheets and pillow and put her stuff into it. She makes her bed and makes sure it looks alright then takes a seat on it.
She finally had some time to think about what had happened over the past twenty four hours.
She went from having abusive parents to being and orphan. And the funny thing is she didn't feel anything. She didn't feel sadness at the loss of both of her parents. She just felt empty....
Does she even belong anywhere?
Isn't she just wasted space.....?
