My dad always said "Practice makes perfect", but that thought didn't last long after my fifth arrow missed the haystack I was using as a target. "You're thinking about it too much." said Elizer as he took a bite into an apple. "I would ask if you could do any better, but we both know you can." I said rolling my eyes at him while a tiny smirk lifted at the corner of his mouth. He's beautiful. "Good choice." I put my bow down and stretched my fingers for the 100th time today. No matter how many times I stretched them they will never be steady. I sighed heavily, what's the point I'll never inherent the family legacy. "Don't give up princess tomorrow's a new day!" Elizer chimes while brushing my hair aside and kissing me on my forehead. I shuddered at his touch, I've always had. He stood watching my reaction knowing what he does to me. I nestled my head to his chest, no heart beat of course cause demons don't have hearts. "One day I'll be as good as you." I said a little too proudly. "Guess it's not today." He teased with a wink. His 5'11 body which never seemed to be comfortable enough for him was leaning on an oak tree near by. His black hair covered his forehead, but just a tad high enough to see his crystal pool blue eyes. His jaw was perfectly square which fit his face and his lips weren't small nor big, did I mention he was beautiful? "Come on enough training for today, let's treat ourselves." He said nodding to the barn stalls. Horse back riding was his next favorite thing next to training. I smiled, "Race you!" I shouted already sprinting to the stalls. I was out of breath when I got there, but I lifted my head to see Elizer already standing by his black stallion known as Blaze. "You're fast, but never faster than me." He said while patting Blaze on the back. "A for effort though, right?" I asked making my way to the stall next to Blazes where my beautiful white horse stood named Sunshine. "Hi baby girl, how are you?" I cooed running my fingers through her mane, she nods in approval. I got her when I was 10 for a going away present from my dad. Of course I was clueless to where he was going, but I doubt any 10 year old would want to know their father was going demon hunting. You see my families known as the best demon hunters starting from my great ancestors. Every year my father would lead a crowd of demon hunters for a whole month getting rid of the ones roaming in the human world. The thing is my father left, but never came back. When I found out I swore I'd kill all the demons for my father and never give one a chance, but that all changed when I fell in love with one. One day I was riding Sunshine through the woods when I lost my grip and fell head first on to a rock, splitting it open. When I woke up I was laying in an unknown bed with the worst headache ever. I sat up to face the palest man, but in a beautiful way, watching me. With my hunter ears I can hear heartbeats clear as day and that's when I knew what he was cause there was only one heartbeat in the room and it was mine. My first thought was to run away from this flawless creature, but I didn't instead I stared like a little kid receiving a lollipop as big as their head. I knew I was suppose to be scared, but I wasn't because of the way he looked at me assuring me I was safe. "You cracked your head on a rock, but don't worry I already stitched you up." he finally said. I felt the part of my head that was pounding and sure enough there were 6 rough stitches. "Why'd you help me?" I asked with a soft voice. "Cause not all of us are bad." I widened my eyes in surprise, demons usually hide their identities. He chuckled, "Well you should head home before it gets dark, your horse is tied up outside." He reached his hand out, I hesitated and he noticed. "It's okay", he said with the most genuine smile on his face and that's when I knew I wanted to see him again. I focused back to the present and saddled Sunshine up. "I remember when I introduced my horse to yours", Elizer said breaking the silence. "Blaze fell in love with her, but Sunshine was scared." I laughed, "I remember Sunshine tried to hide behind the barn from him." "I guess what I'm getting to is it's exactly how it was when we first met", and with that he was gone, leaving me with questions in my head. The thing is he doesn't know I loved the fear I had. After 10 mins. of riding alone I finally caught up with him by the nap tree where we'd lay under it and take a nap together whenever the weather was nice. I remember the first time it was on accident and I felt so embarrassed because I'm a snorer, but luckily he said he thought I was cute when I did. He tied Blaze to a fence near by and I did the same with Sunshine then I laid down with my head on his chest. It was a warm fall day with a cool breeze, so we easily fell into a peaceful sleep.
"Hey! You think you can come with me after school to pick out a homecoming dress with me?" Ericka said as I closed my locker. "Um......I might have to help my mom with something, but I'll ask her if I can after that." I started walking to my class without looking back. "Call me!" Ericka shouted from down the hall as I entered into my first class. The thing is Ericka doesn't get me as much as I'd like her to, so she has no idea about my secret life of being a demon hunter. She's a normal high schooler that wants to do normal high school stuff while I just want to train and practice. We met freshmen year in geometry class where at first we hated each other, she thought I was a quiet loser while I thought she was a stuck up bitch. We mutually bonded after we were picked to be partners in a project and ever since than we were inseparable. She knows everything else about me while I know every little thing about her which makes me feel guilty, but sometimes it's safer for people not to know the most dangerous things about you. I sat down at my desk which was the last left corner one in the back where a big window was over looking the school field next to me. I always find myself staring out and daydreaming instead of paying attention maybe that's why I have a C in here. "Alright class!" My history teacher, Mrs. Mackle walks in with her usual enthusiastic self and prepares for class. "I would like everyone to know there's a new student joining us today for the rest of the school year!" Everyone fell silent mainly because we never have new students especially in a small town like ours where everyone knew everyone. She left the classroom and came back about a minute later followed by a tall and slender boy. I heard a lot of girls gasp when he walked in and I wasn't surprised why. He was beautiful. His hair was spiked into a fo hawk that complimented his muscular face. He wore a black leather jacket with blue jeans and leather motorcycle boots. His green eyes twinkled like stars, but they also held many secrets that were waiting to be figured out. It felt like the whole room was holding their breath including me. "Ladies and gentlemen I would like to introduce you to Mr. Grant." Grant nodded in a "what's up" type of way leaving the girls melting. "He came all the way from London, so please help him feel welcome here." London? What is someone from a big country doing in a small town like this? "So Grant if you'd like to take a open seat anywhere in the room be my guest." I looked around to see only two desks open, one in the front and one directly to my right. Shit. In my head I prayed he would just take the one in front, but my hopes were too high as he made his way to the back of the room right next me. I quickly looked out the window to my other side and pretended to not notice. "If everyone would like to take out their text books and turn to pg. 357 that would be lovely." As I took out my text book and set it on my desk I can feel a set of eyes watching me from the side of my face. In that moment I realized I was scared and I didn't know why. "Ms. Faye?" I snapped my head up to see the teacher looking directly at me. "If you'd please share your book with Grant till we can get him his own copy that would be nice." The whole class turn to look at me. "Um....yes Mrs. Mackle." I replied in a soft voice. "Thank you." I took a deep breath as I moved my desk next to his and set the book in the middle of us. "Hey I'm Grant." He holds out his hand waiting for me to take it. "I'm Faye." I slowly take his hand and shake it as my cheeks start burning up. I let go without making any eye contact and pretended to focus on what Mrs. Mackle was saying. I felt him in every way possible without even looking at him, I can feel the tension rising up between us for no reason at all. Near the end of class, we finally talked again. "Are you gonna help me?" He asked. I looked at him, "Um what?" "With the homework of course." He said without pausing. "I can meet you at your house after school? Sounds good." Before I could respond he got up and left right as the bell rang. I freaked out. This beautiful stranger invited himself to my house, but then again he didn't ask for my address, so maybe he was fooling around. I disregarded it and had my normal school day then made my way home. My heart was beating fast because his words lingered in the back of my mind like a melody as I got closer to my house. Sure enough, he was there. Who am I exactly dealing with?
