"You are the sassiest girl I've met. Haha." Clark said to me while chuckling.
"Thanks." I said sarcastically.
"I know it's hard... To trust me.. And others. After all you've been through in just a couple weeks or so, I'm so sorry. I wish that I could've went to you and told you that we were siblings."
"You could've. I mean my "mom" didn't actually care that much about me after a while."
"No. I didn't know where you lived. Plus, you were so protected and safe with "mom" she did care. She was nice."
"Obviously, you haven't met her. I mean, how was that one dude who I don't want to call "dad" yet?"
"Abusive."
"What?" I could fear my eyes getting watery.
"He would abuse me ever since I told him that I had powers. I didn't have friends though so I couldn't go to someone and tell them. I was too shy and scared. Finally when I was 18, I moved out and went to college. Got to be an accountant and started saving lives." His head was down that whole time when he said that.
"Why didn't you run away when you were younger?"
My dad knew I didn't have friends. I only started making some in middle school. When high school came, I went everywhere. I saved lives, went places, sometimes I even went to a friends house for sleepovers. I never thought about being abused anymore. I became stronger and muscular. One day, I went home from a sleepover and my dad had an angry look on his face. He must've been drinking, but he got up looked at me and as soon as his fist was raised, it was lowered. He noticed how muscular I was getting. You know how old I was?
"How old?"
"I was 14. Just like you." He said with a serious expression on his face.
"Mom tried to have custody of me once when I called her but I was in high school and had no proof then of how I was abused."
"I'm so sorry, Clark." I had to hug him again so he couldn't see me cry.
"I'm okay. Everything is better now. Cause I know that my sister is safe."
"Is that why you don't want me to tell anyone?"
"Yes. That is most of the reason." He said.
"I know that you don't see it now, but he probably is not your husband." He said bringing that up randomly.
"Husband?! What? That is crazy. Gosh. I don't like him, he's just a friend." I said shocked.
"Oh please, I've seen the way that he looks at you and you look at him. I know that you like him."
"You stalked me and him in that tree?" I asked.
"No. I'm not creepy, I just watched you to make sure he wasn't a stranger. I mean, you slept in a tree at a park that strangers could kidnap you."
"I didn't tell you that I slept in a tree."
"Fine, I watched you sleep. I only did it because people walk around at night and they could easily kidnap you. You can't fight when you are asleep. Yes, you are a heavy sleeper so you can't fight back."
"Okay, well it's a Saturday. What do you do?" I asked.
"Fight crime."
"Okay. Well, let's do it!"
"Haha, no. "
"You can't be serious."
"I promised that I'd Keep you safe and now that I know where you are, I will."
