Lily's POV

I ride around town looking at the various shops and stores. I turned 16 last month, so I decided it was time for me to get a job. Most places around my town are not taking new employees right now. This is harder than I thought. I've applied at three different places, Subway, McDonald's, and Wendy's. I would prefer to work in a store or somewhere more laid back. The fast food industry is just not for me. However, a job makes money no matter where, and I'm in need of it.

The reason I'm so eager to get a job is I'm planning on starting college early. Where I go to school I'm allowed to dual enroll, which means I can take college courses while I take high school courses. I know it will be a challenge to juggle high school, college, and a job, but hey at least I'm getting ahead.

I'm about to give up searching when I come across my old favorite coffee shop/ bakery. I used to come here every Saturday morning with my grandpa before he passed away 6 years ago. He would always order plain black coffee and a doughnut. I always got a vanilla bean frappucino and a cinnamon roll. We would always eat in the corner booth by the window. I pull over and smile to myself at the many memories this place brings back. I haven't even been in here since he died. I am a little hungry. I decide to get out and go visit for a while.

When I walk in I hear the familiar voice of the owner, Mrs. Suzie. She has always been like a adopted grandmother to me.

"Lily Anne! Is that you?" Mrs. Suzie calls. Many memories or getting my cheeks pinched and tight hugs flood my mind.

"Yes Ma'am. I haven't seen you in a while, Mrs. Suzie. How are you?" I say with a huge smile. It feels good to be back here.

"I'm doing great sugar. Look at you! You've grown so much. It seems like only yesterday I was pinching your rosy cheeks."

"I know I've missed you!"

"Aww. Are you ready for school to start back? What grade will you be in?" she asks politely.

"Well I'm going into the 11th grade and I plan on starting a few college courses too." I say proudly. I do very well in school, but I try not to brag.

"You were always so smart. I know you are going to do great and make me proud.

As Mrs. Suzie talks I glance up at the whiteboard where the specials are wrote and I notice at the bottom it says "Help Wanted".

"Mrs. Suzie, Are you looking to hire someone soon?" I ask.

"Yes I am actually. Do you happen to know anyone that might be interested?"

"Well," I begin, "I have been looking for a job all month. I could really use the extra money to pay for the college courses and gas to travel from the school to the college."

Mrs. Suzie's face instantly brightens. " I would love to have you work here! I'm going to have you to fill out an application and do an interview with me because its the only fair way to be hired. However, I'm pretty sure I found the perfect person for the job," she says with a wink.

I realize she means me and do a little happy dance on the inside. I don't want to seem too eager. My hands shake as I fill out the application. I finally get through and give it to Mrs. Suzie. She promises to call me later today to give me the time for the interview. If all goes well I should have a job by next week.

I hop in my car and realize I should call my best friend and brother. My best friend is Niall. I know most girls have friends that are girls, but I don't like drama. Niall and I are actually friends because of drama. Niall had just moved from Ireland in the house right next to mine. I watched him run around the yard with his older brother that day. The next day school started. I remembered him sitting on the back of the bus all alone. When we got to school I realized we where in the same 5th grade class. My "friends" started teasing Niall about his accent and his blonde highlights. I could tell all the drama was causing him pain. I hated seeing the poor boy go through that, so I stood up the the girls for him. They all hated me after that but I had Niall. Also, I had my twin brother Liam. The three of us got along so well. Everyday we talked during class, recess, and lunch. We grew so close over the years. They are my best friends and I wouldn't trade them for any girl. Sometimes, I can talk them into shopping with me or listening to all my problems. Of course I try guy things with them and occasionally let them have a guy day. Which they had today.
