I had that dream again. The same one i've been having for a few days now. The one where I, not the real me, but the little girl in my dream who couldn't be more then six, was walking slow steady steps down the stairs late at night, making sure the people on the phone didn't hear her. She stopped at the last step and sat down, listening to the people, who I assume are her parents, talk on the phone. The women, who looked to be in her mid 20's, and who I realized was....breathtakingly beautiful, with her long red hair and lean body, was talking frantically to someone on the phone. The male, who was also in his mid 20's and very handsome, was rubbing her back as if to give her moral support. It looked like the mom was begging for help as she talked to the person on the other end. I could feel the little girls fear, the urge of her wanting so badly to help her distressed parents, and I so desperatly wanted to help as well. I tried to listen closely, but just like always, I couldn't hear a single word they spoke. All I could see is their lips moving and the women falling to her knees while the dad gently took the phone then nodded his head. Then all of a sudden the dad drops the phone and they both look panickingly out the living room window and its like everythings going in slow motion. The little girl stands up and the stair makes a creaking sound, the mom twirls her head around and sees her standing there, then she runs over and picks her up in her arms as she runs up the stairs with her. Then they suddenly stop as if they had heard something. She runs her back to her room and urges her quickly to hide underneith her bed. I couldn't hear what was going on down stairs, but what ever it was I knew wasn't good. The women quickly stood up moments before someone walked into the room. I couldn't make out their face, I could only see their feet, but I could sence they were very dangerous. And extremly powerful.I could see the womens feet moving slowly backwards and then---she falls. And her eyes are wide open, starring into the little girls now terrified and confused eyes. And that was it. That is where my dream always ends. I never find out what happens afterwards. Never find out what happens to the little girl, or who her parents were on the phone with or who that person was and why did they want her parents dead. Or was it the helpless girl they really wanted but had to get rid of the obstacles first?
I layed wide eyed in my queen sized bed, letting these questions run wild in my head. If only I could hear their voices then maybe I could understand what it all means. It must have some kind of an important meaning hidden inside of it some where. Why else would I be having the same dream three nights in a row. I tilted my head sideways to glance at my alarm clock. It was exactly three minutes before it was supposed to go off. Waking me up for the last day of school. Or atleast till the summer vacation was over. I shut off my alarm clock and got out of bed to go get some breakfast.
" Kali, how's my favourit girl this morning? And can I just say how magnificent you look in the morning." my 'brother' Billy said. I have always thought the name Billy sounded super creepy. I guess his name suits him quite well then. He was leaning against the counter gripping a steaming hot mug of coffee. Yuck!
Billy isn't my real brother, just my foster brother. I have been with this family since....well since I was atleast seven. Or maybe even less. I have never known my real parents. For some reason I just can't remember them, so I guess I should be thinking of Billy as my real brother since him and his parents are the only family I know. But how can anyone think of your foster brother as your real brother, when he makes comments like those everyday? Especially once you start puberty and start growing boobs.
I rolled my big round topaz eyes at him in disgust as I walked pass him to the fridge and poured myself a tall glass of delicious OJ.
