Jay is impulsive, Carlos is aware of that. And although they're not as big on saying 'I love you' as some couples are, they are constantly showing that they do to one another. Still, Carlos never expected this.
"So... What do you think?" Jay asked the younger boy, sporting his signature smirk. A smirk that after almost a minute of Carlos not saying anything, began to slip from his face.
"You're insane."
Jay mistook Carlos's words as praise. "Thanks."
"Why did you do that to yourself?"
Jay frowned, "I thought you'd like it."
Carlos tugged at his hair as he grasped for a response that wouldn't offend Jay. "What if... What if one day this... us, doesn't work out? You'll have my name on your body for the rest of your life."
Jay involuntarily took a step back from Carlos. "You think we'll end up braking up?" He asked, unable to keep the slight crack out of his voice.
"No... It's just, before we got together, you never stayed with one person for too long..." Carlos stuttered trying to choose his words carefully.
It was too late, Jay was already angry. "That's not... You know that it's different with you." He choked out, not meeting Carlos's eyes.
"I know-" Carlos began, but paused mid sentence, he didn't want to lie. "Actually no, I don't. Not completely, I always get scared that one day you'll wake up... And realized that you're sick of me. And if that day ever comes, my name is now on you, permanently." Carlos finished trying to explain the severity of what Jay had done.
Jay shook his head, finally deciding to close the space between him and Carlos. "That isn't going to happen. Look, I don't care if you think that people in high school don't stay together forever. It's different with us. That was the whole damn point of this C, you're stuck with me, permanently." He finished in a mocking tone, tilting the shorter boys face up to his and grazing his lips against Carlos's.
Carlos's resolve broke and he found himself smiling. He wanted to still be mad and rational, but it was already too late, he was already indulging in thoughts of what everyone's reaction would be when they see it. Jay sometimes played games of tourney with the rest of the team on the weekends, and he rarely kept his shirt on for too long. Oh Carlos could picture it now, the looks on the faces of all those girls who always nonchalantly hung around those games just to gawk at Jay as he took of his shirt and they were met with this.
"Fine. Show me again." Carlos finally said, breaking apart from Jay's embrace. Jay hesitated a moment before pulling down on the black tank top he was currently wearing. There, in black cursive printed across the entire left side of his chest was Carlos's name. Carlos felt his cheeks heat up as he stared at it. Now that he was over his initial shock, he had to admit, it was pretty sexy.
Instinctively he reached out and gently traced his fingers over the skin, careful not to hurt Jay.
"Okay."
"Okay?" Jay answered, a smile already in his tone.
"Okay, I do like it, a lot."
Jay grinned at his words. "Good." He whispered before picking up Carlos and tossing him onto his bed, scattering kisses across his neck.

That night, while both boys were curled up around each other, watching tv, Carlos briefly entertained the idea of him getting Jays name tattooed on him (Of course a much more subtle and smaller version) maybe, one day.
