Four - Hey Angel

Monday

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock and turned it off. I rubbed my face with my hands but regretted it as soon as I felt the pain. I groaned and sat up with some struggle. I got up and limped to the dresser. I pulled on black skinny jeans and a black hoodie. I walked in my bathroom and sighed when I looked at myself from the mirror. The old bruise I had on my left eye was fading a bit but you could still see it, my right cheekbone was bruised and the right side of my lower lip had a cut on it. I shook my head a bit and brushed my teeth.

I stepped back in my room, packed my backpack and pocketed my phone and keys. I limped out of my room and headed downstairs. I pulled on my shoes and stepped out of the house. I headed towards the school and fished a cigarette from my backpack. I lit it and sucked on it. I sighed and blew the smoke out. When I was done with the cigarette, I was halfway between the school and my house.

After a while I arrived to school and limped to the back of the school where Louis was already waiting for me. "Woah, Zaynie, what happened?", he asked jogging to me and supported me. "Nothing, I'm fine", I said and groaned when he placed his hand on my side. I leaned on the wall and he stood next to me. I fished another cigarette from my backpack, lit it and breathed in the cancer stick. "Do you wanna talk about it?", Louis asked and I shook my head. "Don't worry about it", I said and he nodded.

We finished our cigarettes, dropped them on the ground and stepped on them. We walked around the school and in through the front doors. "Do you need any help?", Louis asked and I chuckled. "I'm a big boy, I know how to walk", I said and he nodded. "Aren't you in pain?", he asked. "I can handle it", I said and we stepped in our English class. We sat to the front row because I didn't want to walk more than I had to. Mr. Payne looked up from his papers and his eyes widened when he saw me. I looked away from him and connected my eyes with Louis.

"Are you sure you're gonna be okay?", he asked and I let out a chuckle. "Yes, now drop it", I said and he nodded. "I'm just worried about you", he said and I nodded. "I know but I'm fine", I said and the bell rang. Mr. Payne stood up from his seat and started the lesson. I took out my notebook and pen. I didn't pay attention to the class and suddenly I heard my name. "Yea?", I asked looking up from my notebook. "Do you know the answer?", Mr. Payne asked. "I don't even know the question", I said trying to act like a bad boy again. "Maybe you can stay after class then", Mr. Payne said. "Whatever", I just said with a chuckle and looked back on my notebook.

The bell rang and people walked out of the class. "I'm gonna wait for you in the hall", Louis said and I nodded. He walked out and I looked at Mr. Payne. "What happened to you?", he asked. "Got in a fight", I said. "With Louis?", he asked and I shook my head with a chuckle. "No, I would win in a fight against him", I said. "Do you wanna talk about it?", he asked and I shook my head. "Can you read what you just wrote in your notebook?", he asked and I shrugged. "I guess", I said and looked down to it.

I read and looked up at Liam. "Okay, that's good", he said nodding and I stood up from my seat. "Thanks", I said and shoved my stuff in my backpack. I limped towards the door but stopped when I heard Liam speak again. "I'm sorry", he said and I turned around. "What?", I asked. "I'm sorry that you're in pain", he said and I let out a small chuckle. "Well there's nothing you can do about it", I just said and he nodded. "I know but I could if you told me who did this", he said and I shook my head. "You can't do anything about it", I said.
