I look up at the small sliver that is the moon from my place on the rocks. A calm wind blows my hair back from my face while the small waves gently roll across the part of my tail that is still in the water. I hear a small noise behind me in the distance, as I turn I see a ship not too far from my rocks which brings a smile to my face.

"I guess that's my cue" I say to myself. With that I slip back into the water and make my way over to where the ship is.

As I approach the ship, I lift my head above the water and slowly start to sing the song of my people. It starts off quietly at first but grows louder and more enchanting than before.

At this point in my song I have the attention of the sailors as they lean over the edge of the ship to be closer to my voice.

"Come to me my lover, come and give me your hand. Come be with me forever, in the depths of the sea below"

As I continue singing my song I see a sailor that is leaning out towards me the farthest and I stretch out my hand to reach him.

"Come to me my beloved" He reaches his arm out and places his hand in mine. Once I have a hold on him, I pull him into the water and I hold him tightly to me as I drag him down to the bottom of ocean so I may devour him.

My nails grow to claws and my teeth sharpen to fangs as the look of innocent beauty disappears from my face and I become my true self. I can see the look of terror on the sailors face as the realization dawns on him of what I truly am.

However, he is far too late and I begin destroying and ripping him limb from limb and consuming him until nothing is left.

As I turn around in the now red water I glance back up at the ship and see the sailors crew mates running around in a panic, not knowing what to do.

Since I've had my fill for the night, I decide to leave and I head back to the rocks. When I reach my place of safety, I position myself on my rock and I watch the ship that is bathed in the light of the little moon. As it sails away from sight, I can feel myself becoming tired and I reluctantly retreat to my shelter below the waters and I fall into a deep dreamless sleep.

Authors note:
Lana's Prologue is complete!! I would absolutely love your opinions but please be gentle as its my first story and I'm trying my best. I'm still playing around with everything so I apologize if there are any issues. I know it's a short chapter and I'm going to make the other chapters longer but I wrote this at 5:00 in the morning and this is where my brain just stopped. Thank you for reading and I'll try to get the next chapter out ASAP!
