You are going out tonight with your boyfriend of one year, Riley. It is your anniversary today and you are going out all day together.
He picked you up precisely at 1:00 and smiled when you opened the door. "You look beautiful Emily."
"Thank you Riley."
He grabs your hand and you start to walk into town.
"So what all are going to do today, Ri?" you ask him.
"Whatever you want. I figured we could go shopping, see a movie, maybe go mini-golfing, whatever you please." He smiles.
"Okay. Let's just go window shopping for now." You love window shopping with Riley. You get to see all the beautiful things and spend time with your boyfriend.
When you get into town, he says, "Want to stop by Starbucks real quick?"
"Absolutely."
Once you both have your drinks, you start walking down the main strip. You walk into a couple of stores but don't find anything special. You stop by both of your favorite food truck and get something to eat.
You walk by a jewelry store and stop at the window to admire the jewels. It's always been one of your favorite things to do. Riley just stands next to you smiling.
"What?" you ask, laughing.
"Let's go inside," he says.
"No. I don't need anything and that stuff is way too expensive for me anyways. I just like to look, you know that."
"I know. But I want to go inside today. I want to get you something."
"No. I'm not letting you do that Riley."
"I am allowed to do what I want for my girlfriend. Especially on our anniversary. I'm getting you something. You can either wait out here while I get it, or you can come inside and pick it yourself."
You roll your eyes and then laugh. "Fine." He grabs your hand and pulls you inside. It really is wonderful in this store though. You walk over to the necklaces and Riley follows you. An employee comes up and asks, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
You're so mesmerized, you don't even know how to respond, but Riley starts talking to him. You see both of them walk over a little bit and look at some other things.
You slowly work your way towards them and when you see what they are looking at you are stunned. The three of you are standing in front the rings. The engagement rings.
"Pick one." Riley smiles at you as he grabs your hand and pulls you close.
"For later? I like that one," you say.
"Not for later, Em. For now." And suddenly Riley is on his knee. Right in front of you. In the jewelry store. All of the employees in the store (and the other customers too) are looking at you. "Marry me? I love you so much. Please pick a ring and be mine forever."
You start to laugh because it's all a little surreal. "Yes," you manage to get out. "I will definitely marry you."
Riley stands up and grabs you into a hug. When he sets you back down, he says, "I love you so much Emily. So much," and he gives you a kiss.
