My new teammates were always hoping that the war would end. I couldn't go a day without hearing kids say "the war will be over soon" or "or the army will march toward victory". I knew better. This war would go well beyond our lifetimes.  As long as there is jealousy, there will be new Magrons. And jealousy is eternal. As the war dragged on, I decided the best course for survival is to stop searching battlegrounds and to go somewhere more peaceful. Like the normal dimension. By then, we had well over twenty members, the youngest being seven. It took a month for Alicia to find a portal spell that would take us to the normal dimension and another month to prepare. The library that we "borrowed" the spell was very old. Everything in there was a scroll. I found a scroll called "The Five Brothers United" and one called "The Past, Present, and the Future Combined". While Alicia was preparing, we had elections to see who should lead our team. The two finalists were me and James. James was older and more powerful, but I had created the team and I had more skill. Eventually, I was chosen. I decided to rename our team The Heroes Of Legend after the original heroes who supposedly created this dimension. By then, Alicia was ready to go. Her magical backpack thingy is gone. Probably magic.

"Ready?" I turn to the others, "For now, if we step inside, we can't come back until we find someone. And find a reverse portal..." I mutter. Alicia glares at me.

"Not all magic is perfect you know," she argues, "be glad that this portal won't kill you..."

"Sheesh, everyone is so tense now." I think, "one loud noise and they'll all jump."

"Anyways, I you go..." I say as I push a random kid in. He disappears in a flash of light. "You next."

I throw the others in one by one. Eventually, they get the idea and run in themselves. I turn around. I feel a pair of small hands push my back.

"Alicia, no..." I start. I watch as she jumps in right behind me. She has a huge grin on her face. The ride is bumpy. I feel like I'm rolling down a mountain. Behind me, Alicia is gliding down smoothly. Not a care in the world. Up ahead, the portal opens up. I watch as the people before me are sucked in. I follow. The pressure in the tunnel makes my ears hurt. I wish I brought some gum. I see another portal. This one leading outside. I fly through.

I land in a grassy plain. I see a mere child staring at us in curiosity. I stand up.

"Who are you." He whispers. He has black hair with a streak of dark brown. His eyes are brown. I step toward him. He backs up and reaches in to his jacket. I stop moving. He pulls out a silver metal contraption out. It's shaped kinda like a "L". He points the long end at me and holds in with both hands. I stare at him.

"Alicia..." I say. She doesn't reply. Her eyes are closed and her hands are held out in front of her. The metal thing flies out of his hands. He gasps in surprise. Then, he calms down. He looks straight at me. Wait, weren't his eyes brown? His eyes are pitch black. The color of a starless night sky. It feels cold. Like frost forming on my back. His right arm starts to crackle and pop. Then, his arm bursts into a jagged lightning bolt.

"So... There are others like me. I thought I was losing my mind." He says. His arm stops crackling and turns normal. His eyes turn brown.

"Hi. Are you guys a team?" He asks.

"Yes."

"Will you accept me?" He continues.

"Of course. It's not everyday you meet someone with powers like yours." I answer.

"Ok. Let's start over. Hi. I am an war orphan. And my name is Brian."
