I hope ya'll like it. This was just an idea of mine because there aren't a lot of dragon-related stories on here, so I decided to make one of my own. Enjoy.

Prologue

I've never really complained about my life, even when Elder Silvae Matrem hid me away from everyone in the village.

"We need to keep you away from that nasty father of yours. He means nothing but harm to you." She'd constantly say to me when I first started staying with her.

"I'm protecting you because of a promise that I made to your mother a long time ago before she died." I winced at her daily reminder. My mother was killed by the Dragon King when I was no more than four winters old. He snatched her up in the middle of the night, and we never saw her again.

'Are you even listening to me, little one?" Silvae asked, snapping her fingers in front my face.

"Oh! sorry, Elder Silvae." I said, looking down guiltily.

"Oh, never mind. Come along then, child. It's time for the monthly social bath and I must bring you along, no matter how much I want to hide you from them."Nervously, I followed her to the Bathing Falls.

As soon we reached the Falls, all of the women came rushing towards me, swarming me, and the men stared.

-"Oh, your dress!" -"Oh, your hair!" "Oh, your eyes!"

"Girls, girls, girls! Do not surround her so. You're scaring her away already, and you just met the poor girl." Silvae said as she noticed me cowering away from them.

"I don't see why  they'd swarm her so when she's obviously not as beautiful as I am." Came a loud, high-pitched voice. Looking up, I came across a girl with dark, reddish-brown hair, bright green eyes and a slender body.

"Who are you?" I asked quietly.

She snorted in laughter. "Did you seriously just ask me who I am? I am the Chief;s daughter and you are a little nobody. You're not even pretty. Your hair is white, your eyes are whitish-blue, yet your skin is caramel-colored. Some weird creature from the sea?" She stopped talking, but only because the Chief was heading our way, glaring at me as he saw my tears.

"Princess," he said, "is this little pest bothering you?"

"Yes." She said, fake tears in her eyes. He turned towards me, fire dancing in the cold depths of his eyes. But before he could say anything, Elder Silvae jumped in front of me, glaring at him.

"Nihil tale fecit, et stultus!" ("She did no such thing, you fool!")

Tilting his head to the side, he turned his fiery gaze to Silvae, scrutinizing how she was protecting me. "Quid hiding , muier?" ("What are you hiding, woman?")

"Sed mea tegi." ("Only enough to protect mine own.") Although she spoke calmly, she did not relax her protective stance .

The Chief stood up straight, grinning from ear-to-ear, and looked at his men behind him. "Get them." Before I could blink, Silvae had knocked me out of the way.

"Go!" She yelled, and I obeyed, afraid that I, too, would be captured. Running quickly through the young women who had already began undressing. I ran towards the waterfall. I had been here alone enough to know that there was a hidden cave behind it.

"Come here, tu canis parvo!" (-you little b****!") One of the men shouted, grabbing a hold of my dress, ripping a large portion of it off as I tore free of his grasp.

Finally reaching the waterfall, I dove into the water, swimming  to the other side. Climbing onto the ledge, I crawled over to the corner of the cave and curled up into a ball. From the other side of the waterfall, I heard the men gathering and talking.

-"Did you see where she went?"

"Yes. She went through the waterfall. Doesn't she know how dangerous that is?" The Dragon King's been spotted using that cave as an entrance to our world." Sighing, he continued." But the Chief wants her, so we have to go in there, anyway."

I held my breath, ready to bolt further into the cave if necessary. Suddenly, though, I heard the Chief's voice as he yelled at the. "What are you doing, you fools?! You know better than to go in there!"

"Yes, Chief, but that girl didn't. She dove right through there when I tried to grab her. I got part of her dress, though. Shame that such a beautiful piece of clothing was on such an ugly creature." I held back tears as I heard each of them dive through the water into the cave. Crawling further into the cave, I tried to find somewhere else to hide.

Before I could find anywhere else to hide, though, I felt clawed hands grab me around the waist and pick me up. "Hmmn. What do we have here?" A deep male voice murmured before everything went black.
