So Today i have Desided to start writing down my Daily life events. As a Youth outreach Director and Youth leader. Thanks for Reading in Advance and God bless. I'll try to write as offten as i can.
Hello My name is Jonathan Dailey. I have been a Youth leader for coming up to 12 years now and in the years that i have worked i can tell you this one thing. teens today still need strong rolemodels in there lives. people willing to step up and defend them from The Cyber Bully problem we now see Rampant in the online communities.
So My work as a Youth leader Started when i got a chance to be a Peer Counselar in my Highschool in 2003. my Second Year of Grade 11. Yes that's right in Highschool i failed grade 11 one time and had to repeat. but that's another story. so during that year i spent many C blocks in the peer Couselling office talking to teens between the ages of 13 to 17. Those days where hard days. I nearly broke down many times after C block after listening to the stories i was being told. Bullies not only had been tormenting these kids at the school but it had started to follow them home via online means. this is when i made a vow that i would found a Youth friendly website. And in 2004 i founded "Duke's Gaming Haven". under the name "Duke's Gaming Friends and Family" We Brought it to a vote a year later and we Picked Duke's Gaming Haven. The Site's Name was given to it By a 13 year old girl who had a Terminal illness and loved the stories of Duke my Poddle Scotish Terrier Cross. She will never be forgotten and neather will the dog the site was named after.
In 2006 We Got our own webhost and switched from a freebie forum system to a fully owned and operated by DGH Youth members. but sadly when we did the switch over. we lost Our Young Friend Who had terminal illness and we lost 80% of our members. we where suffering. we needed a new outreach... we stuggled for a while with 3 admins and 5 members for a long time. then slowly we died further down to 3 members and one admin. life hit us hard. we where not going anywhere but the trash heap for the site.
I Brought it to prayer and in 2010 I moved to a bigger form of outreach. a street hockey outreach ministry. and From there. We now reach teens and children ages 7 to 17. Sadly with my new move Coming. We might face yet another downfall. and my goal for the website is to remake it into a more user friendly network. maybe even a Young adult and Teen Friendly social media site. Time will only tell but so far we are looking into the posibilities. myself as well as a group of my friends who are helping me brainstorm ideas for the new age of DGH Youth Outreach Ministries.
