I was worried, was she hurt? It was silent. Too quiet. But.." Stephen showed me his palm, I knew it was a symbol to stop, he looked forward, from where the sound came from. "Stephen?" I whispered. He just slowly placed his finger to his un-kissed lips and stared in the dark forest.
Seconds later Jess comes running out with blood stains covering her clothes torn also. She was panting but I think she was more frightened then out of breath. "Jessica?" it was rare that I used her full name but it looked like she couldn't speak. Jess's eyes widened as she shock her head lightly, breathing deeply still. I cant blame her for not wanting to talk but I needed to know what happened. After Stephen and I calmed her down she finally spoke gently. "J-James... Wolf. De-" she stopped and looked me dead in the eye, so deep I saw my own reflection. "Dead" Jess whispered. I didn't hesitate. I ran to him, somehow I knew where he was.
Blood. A lot of blood. That's all that was there. No wolf? No James. Just blood. I stopped as soon as I stood in a puddle of it. What the Hell did it do? I looked up and around the woods, there was nothing. I shouted to Stephen "Take her back! I'll stay here and wait for you" I didn't care what his reply was, I was not leaving till I find something. "You better stay here then!" I heard him shout back. Even though he cant see me, I nodded "I will and bring some touches back with you!" I looked around as I heard them leave. What happened there? No James? Or even a body. I looked round, trying not to stop in the blood with only the light of the full moon to help me see. The trees felt like they started to lean over me as it suddenly started to become darker. The leaves at my feet, dry and cracking as I stepped on the ground. Blood splattered all the way up two trees, East of the campfire, there was claw marks and paw prints all over the scene. I knelt down to move closer to one of the paw prints on the floor. It was huge. Bigger then a dog or maybe even a normal wolf. "Ashley?" I shoot up suddenly and stood perfectly still. Hoping to God it was Stephen. I noticed his bright yellow watch and exhaled quickly. "Thank God" I said as he pointed the torch towards me. "Thanks" I said as I take it from him and switch it on. "Find anything?" he asked looking around, moving more carelessly then I did, obviously not bothered about the blood on the floor. "Nothing that has surprised me" I said as I shined the torch light on the bloody trees. "But look at this..." Stephen moves to stand next to me and points his torch light at the same spot, "bloody hell! Did it eat him?" I just shrug and say " I have no idea" I move a little closer to the tree, watching my feet while Stephen looked around for anything else.
"Oh my...!!" My face dropped, I felt my heart beat in my ears.
