Introduction: Guys- I've had a few panicked messages and posts, people freaking out asking if Viviana is dead or what happened to her.
Everyone take a deep breath- do it with me- hold it for three and exhale. Good. Namaste.
She lives! After all, she's currently planning Davide's wedding! This is the first Chapter of A Mafia Daughter 3, which, as I've mentioned before, is my baby so I will do my best to write it well.
And without further ado- Once upon a time...
----
The crying was loud, so loud that it could be heard clear across the yard as Matteo stepped out of the black SUV.
He wasn't surprised, however; he was actually growing quite used to it. It was Davide- he'd been throwing tantrums almost daily since they'd returned from Sicily.
As Matteo entered, he loosened his tie leisurely, looking up the stairs and aware that Davide would not calm down until he saw him. Still, he hesitated a bit before going upstairs and stood for a minute wondering if he should just let the nanny handle it.
He couldn't.
He felt that strange tension in his chest that came with knowing his son was suffering and so, tossing the jacket and tie aside, he quickly moved up the stairs and down the long hallway toward's Davide's room. He closed his eyes, for a brief moment, as he passed his old bedroom, the one that connected with Davide's nursery- he hadn't used it since his return.
"Hey." He said, stepping into the nursery and leaning against the door frame as he loosened his sleeves and rolled them up.
Standing above the crib, obviously struggling with the small child, was a slim wisp of a woman, with dark hair and equally dark eyes- attractive, very much so but nothing in comparison to Davide's mother. Matteo cringed as the thought passed his mind.
"Mr. Peroni- how was your day?" The woman asked, lifting Davide out of the toddler bed and trying to get him to be still in her arms.
"The same as usual. How is he?" Matteo asked, his eyes focusing on the little boy who was fussing about. The woman, Annie, shook her head and let out a sigh.
"Same as usual. He's fine during the day, it's bath and sleep time that make him so fussy." Annie said, looking at the boy.
"Gimme here." Matteo finally said, moving towards Davide who was practically leaping out of Annie's arms to get to Matteo. It wasn't quite magic- Matteo didn't have the magic touch she had but Davide had settled into his arms, his loud screams now just a soft whimper. He put his head on Matteo's shoulder and the tears stopped coming as his tiny arms wrapped around his neck.
Annie didn't say anything, although she felt her heart break for the both of them: the little boy who missed his mother and the man who mourned his wife.
They'd been back for almost two weeks now and life was still nowhere near normal... of course, how could it be? Life would never be normal again.
"Thank you for your help today, Annie." Matteo said, dismissing her without saying so.
"Of course. I'll see you in the morning." She said, nodding and moving out of the room.
Matteo paced around the room, one hand gently patting Davide's back as he moved about the room. He felt as Davide began to relax in his arms and slowly his breathing pattern changed- he was finally asleep.
Still, he didn't immediately put him down but instead sat on the ottoman which was up against the wall and stared at the tiny bed with the ridiculous looking little rails she had him install. They were to keep Davide from falling to the ground while slept but the little monster somehow managed to fall nonetheless and so they'd put a thick matt next to it in case he fell again.
