I didn't feel very refreshed when I woke up. I did stay up until the crack of dawn and it only seemed to be--I looked at my phone--not even noon. 10:30 to be exact.
I was exhausted and I felt almost ill from the lack of a long sleep, but I sat up, stretched, and got out of Vic's bunk anyways. There didn't seem to be anyone else up. I heard soft snores and loud snores coming from different areas. In bunks, spread out on the floor. I felt a little dizzy as I shuffled to the couch and laid back down, covering my eyes with an arm.
And sat up immediately.
There was a startled yelp that had emitted from the couch.
I whipped around. I had forgotten that Vic said he would sleep on the couch. And by the looks of it, I had hit something that shouldn't have been hit when I sat. Oops.
"Oh My Gosh! Are you okay?!" I guess I didn't stutter because I was. . . I'm not sure actually. He was holding . . . around that area. He squeezed his eyes closed, took in a deep breath and nodded slowly. Ugh, well that didn't work. I only wanted to lie down on the couch and fall back asleep.
"D-do you need a-an ice pack or so-something?" I muttered looking anywhere but Vic.
He still had his eyes closed, but he shook his head. "It's fine." He squeaked. I felt even worse. I had kind of thrown myself onto the couch. And your skull was very heavy. Ouch.
"I-I'm really sorry."
"It's--" his voice cracked and went higher than it was before. He coughed. "It's fine. Really." His voice was back to normal.
He was taking deep breaths though, so I knew he wasn't exactly okay. He coughed again. "So, how did you sleep?"
I held up my hand and shook it in the universal 'eh it was okay' gesture. He nodded in understanding. "I didn't sleep as well as I should've either. And I think I have a concert later today. I forgot where, but they're going to start driving in a couple of hours so we'll have to wake up your friend's soon." I nodded this time.
"W-want m-me to now?" I asked, getting up and pointing to the back with my thumb.
"No. We can wait a while. We can go get everyone breakfast in the meantime if you want." He raised an eyebrow. I shrugged. Why not?
"Um, should we wait to get showers or just eat first then we'll come back?" He asked, getting up. "Seperate showers. That's what I mean." He added. I guess I had a weird look on my face.
"W-well, I-I have none o-of my clothes a-anyways so I guess w-we can drop b-by my h-house on the w-way back." I got off the bus, Vic following me. I don't know why, but it just feels like someone is going to pounce on my back or something. I'm not sure. It's a weird pet peeve. So I waited for him to stand beside me or go in front of me. He walked beside me.
I stared at the ground. The shadows of my feet were a bit intruging. The sun beat down on me though, even as it was only around 10:40. Still morning. The cracks in the sidewalk were pretty too. They were like huge scars on a huge body. It was kind of cool to think that Earth had her problems too. But up rose a cute little flower in the middle of crack. I stopped. It was really pretty. Really odd too. Good things grew from the bad.
I caught up to Vic who hadn't noticed my slight delay. Instead of looking back down again, I decided to look around. I don't think I'd ever seen this part of my home town. That was crazy! I should've known about this place. I can see why not though. It was raggedy. The buildings were ramshackle and worn. The "trees" and "flowers" and "grass" (if you can even call them that) were withered, brown, and ugly. I feel bad for them though. I didn't really like that I had called them ugly. No one likes to be called ugly.
