"Damien....please." she coughed out as she clutched tightly onto her stomach.

Aaliyah dodged the next punch that Damien threw at her. Reaching under the bedside table, she snatched the gun from beneath it and cocked it pointing it at Damien.

"Do you really think you scaring me with that thing?" He chuckled backing her into a wall.

"Damien, I'm warning you. I don't want to pull the trigger. But I will if I have to." She said, now standing.

Damien did not say anything after that. He chuckled before pretending to turn around only to punch her right in her jaw.

2 Months Before

Aaliyah
I sighed as I pulled up to the vacant house taking off my sunglasses. I reached in the passenger seat grabbing the bouquet of assorted flowers I picked up on my way here.

I got out inhaling the smell of fresh pine due to all the pine trees in the back yard. I honestly could not understand how this house was not hot on the market.

I picked up the candle I left here last time and lit it sitting it back on the small woven table that sat besides me.

Kneeling, I placed the flowers before me on the porch. I kissed my fingertips and rubbed the porch before putting my hands back together preparing to pray.

"Hey dad, it's been a long time since I stopped by. These past few months have been hell for me."

I paused feeling the water works coming on. "As you can see, I still haven't had the courage to stop by the cemetery. I just don't feel the connection I feel here."

I sighed. "Damien hit me again. I know you must think I'm so stupid for sticking around but I'm just. I'm sc-scared."

I broke down as I clutched onto the railing to support me from falling down the stairs.

"I wish you were here. I miss you so much." I sniffed kissing the porch where he was murdered. I laid there for a while longer just staring at the sky.

I jumped up when I heard my phone ringing from the roof of my car. I grabbed it groaning when I saw who it was that was calling.

"Hello?" I answered as sweetly as possible knowing he called because he was upset that I was not there when he woke up.

"Where the fuck you go?" he said scaring me with the extra base in his voice. "I-uh I went to go pick up breakfast." I lied as I gathered my things in my car.

"I thought you was tryna' run away for a minute." I heard him chuckling. "Well hurry up and I like my donuts frosted bitch." He hung after he said that probably having the laugh of his lifetime right now.

I sighed before closing the door and starting my car. "See what I mean dad? There aren't any good men around here."  I drove toward the closest Denny's I could find.

"F-fuck.." Damien groaned as he rolled over next me. I laid there breathless waiting for him to fall asleep.

As soon as I heard his snores get louder, I rolled out of bed and limped over to the bathroom. Turning on the light, I looked at the fading bruise under my eye.

These past few days I've tried my hardest to stay out of Damien's way. I've been home on time, I cook every single night by 5:30 pm, and I submit to every single one of his weird sexual habits.

It's been a week at the most since he's last hit me and I really feel like he's changing. I can really see a future with him. I'm even thinking about asking him if I could get off of birth control so we can start a family.

Damien and I have been together for three years now and he's been hitting me for two. Now that he's changing, starting a family doesn't sound so bad.
