Chrissy made her way into the familiar bar and ventured off to Ray's office as soon as she walked through the front doors. Ray had always been like a dad to Chrissy ever since he met her last year. He always made sure she was taken care of and was sometimes a shoulder for her to cry on.
She reached his office and knocked on the door before entering. He was sitting at his desk going through papers, probably sorting out paycheck and such. When she walked in he looked up at me and smiled.
"Well if it isn't my favorite employee. How are ya, Chrissy?" he asked as he took the glasses off of his face and leaned back in his chair.
"I'm great, Ray. Ready to get the night started?" Chrissy asked him as She took a seat in a chair across from him. She always liked his office. It reminded her of her father in a way.
"Always am. How about you? You ready to deal with some drunks on this wonderful Friday night?"
Chrissy smirked and looked down at her fingernails, they were in desperate need of a manicure again. "Ray, you know dealing with drunks is my favorite past time. I love it."
"Okay, enough with the jokes. What do you want?"
She played dumb, pretending to not know what he was talking about. "What do you mean? A girl can't visit her favorite boss to check up on him before she goes and slaves away at her job? I am very offended, Ray." She said, trying to sound angry but failing.
"Kid, I've known you for a year now. I know whenever you're beating around the bush because you don't want to ask me something. The faster you ask the question, the faster I can finish going through these papers and the faster you can get out there and get me money with that cute face of yours."
"Ugh," he honestly knows her way too well. It was kinda sad in a way because one of the closest people to Chrissy was her middle aged boss. God, Heather was right. She does need to meet new people. "I was wondering if I can have tomorrow off?"
"Why?" Ray asked while shuffling his papers around and not looking up at his youngest employee.
"Well, I am your favorite employee and I've been working my ass off for these past few months so I think I deserve at least one night off." The eighteen year old said, crossing her arms over her chest and staring at the man in front of her.
He looked up and sighed, "You know tomorrow is Saturday, right?"
She nodded my head, indicating that she in fact did know what day of the week tomorrow would be. "And you know that it's our busiest night?" he asked. She nodded once more. "And you know I depend on you more than anyone here? Because after all, you are my favorite employee and the most responsible one." he told her and he crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back in his chair.
"I know, Ray and I'm very sorry that this is last minute but my friends wanted to go do something because we haven't been out in forever and I haven't really hung out with anyone outside of work besides me roommates and this is really stupid and I'm really sorry I even asked I'll go set up the bar for tonight." She said as shequickly got up and rushed to the door that led out of Rays office and back into bar.
"You can go." Ray said as she was about to step outside of his office. Chrissy slowly turned around to look at him.
"What?" she asked, making sure she had heard the middle aged man correctly. "You can go." he said once again. She stood there for a few moments, speechless.
"Are you sure? I know how busy it'll be tomorrow and I can tell my friends. They'll understand plus I can go out some other time with them." Chrissy said, suddenly feeling guilty that he was actually letting her go. She knew that she didn't have to be here 24/7 but she felt bad putting all of her responsibilities on other people.
