The crisp, cold night air gently caressed her as she sat in her bed at two in the morning. Her music softly played through her headphones, lyrics that only she could feel running through her veins. She hadn't yet slept, the bags under her eyes growing more and more apparent as the hours passed.

Last she had looked at clock, it was eleven at night. But it was understandable that three precious hours of her life had gone to waste. Her entire life was a waste as it was, was three hours really that big of a deal?

There was a rhythmic tapping on her door, causing her to barely look up from her music.

"Ky, I need you again." The only other voice besides her own gently cooed. Her father smiled at her like he wasn't going to hurt her; and she always hoped he wouldn't.

"I'll be there in a minute." She assured him, taking out her headphones while releasing a sigh.

"Please hurry. This one is very important!" He rushed before she heard his footsteps descend the stairs that lead to their basement.

Her father was a scientist of sorts. What he did research on, she had no idea. She was used to being used as a subject in his experiments. How could she say no to her own father? She had shots that made her blood glow in the dark, pills that made her eyes change to her mood, anything your mind could come up with. Of course, they all wore off before the next experiment; none of them were permanent.

Her feet brushed against the cold wooden floor that covered most of the house. She shuddered at the icy feel, but slowly made her way out of her room. Her door squeaked in protest, but she continued towards the room that smelled of medicine and chemicals.

"Hurry up, Ky!" He growled from the room downstairs. She had begun to upset him by taking her time, so she decided to walk downstairs faster.

She had finally entered the tiled room, the white walls and floors mixed with the bright lights starkly contrasting the room she was sitting in only minutes beforehand. The chair she normally sat in was already set up in the middle of the room. The table beside it held a syringe and a bottle filled with a purple coloured liquid. She took a deep breath and sat, ready to be locked into place.

Her father came over to her, cologne clogging her nose as he bent over her to lock in her wrists. She held back a cough, knowing it would upset him. He took the syringe and stabbed the needle into the top of the little bottle, the purple liquid filling the syringe as much as it could. He quickly pulled the needle out of the bottle and smiled at her, but not as a father should.

He gently caressed her cheek, giving her the looks he should have only given to her mother. His chapped lips brushed against her forehead, her eyes shut tight. Her entire body trembled under his affection, fear gripping her every nerve.

He pulled away and smiled once again.

"You're almost as beautiful as your mother," he began. "I just hope you won't die to this like she did."

Before she could protest, he had the needle in her vein and was pumping the violet liquid into her bloodstream. Her vision was slowly fading, as was her consciousness.

"I had a lot of fun with you when you slept. I just wish you hadn't torn your body up so much. It would have been so much easier if I could grab you, but everywhere was littered with these little slices." He started, but the rest seemed like a blur. His words molded into nothingness.

She let her eyes flutter shut, not daring to look at the man who had just admitted to doing unspeakable acts to her while she slept. Darkness consumed her mind, body, and soul.

She saw a blue light radiate from her chest, and a distant purple light began to flicker and brighten. She reached uselessly for it, but it was both too far and impossible.

So she closed her eyes again, opening them in the real world. She was in her bed, covered with her blanket. Drops of water batted against her window, some racing to see which would fall to the Earth faster. The sound lulled her, her eyes shutting again until she drifted off into peaceful slumber.
