It was a typical Friday night. My parents weren't home because they were out of town and I sat on my couch watching my brother, Jake, and his best friend Klay play video games. Halo 2 was their favorite and
they got so competitive it was like watching two 5 year olds.
I would look down at my phone occasionally, snacking on some popcorn, but most of the time my attention would shift over to Klay, who I had developed a crush on for a couple years, but would never have the nerve to tell him. For one he was my brothers best friend and for two he was the most popular senior at our school and I was only a sophomore. Every girl in school wanted Klay, and I knew I didn't stand a chance. He was tall, handsome and had a talent for basketball that was undeniable.
It was the offseason though, which meant Klay would be over here at our house most of the time being up my brothers butt and messing with me any chance he got.
Jake paused the game after they had been playing for a while to go to the bathroom and get a snack. He asked Klay if he wanted anything but Klay shook his head no and Jake walked out of the room leaving Klay and I in the living room alone.
I suddenly felt very nervous being alone with him but tried to play it off cool as Klay looked back at me and smiled,
"Let me have some of that popcorn."
"Well you could ask nicely." I said with a smirk.
Klay jumped up from his seat and sat down next to me on the couch.
I felt butterflies in my stomach as I caught a whiff of his cologne.
He was wearing Nike sweatpants and a plain t shirt but he still looked so good and his muscles were visible through his shirt.
"I've never seen you wear those before." He said looking down at my new Victoria's Secret pajamas shorts that I just bought.
"O..oh.. I just bought them." I said trying not to blush.
"Well you should wear those more often."
I looked down smiling, trying to hide the fact that my face was completely red.
I finally managed to compose myself, I looked up at him,
"Well are you gonna get some popcorn or not?"
He reached in the bowl and took some shoving it in his mouth obnoxiously.
I just chuckled and rolled my eyes.
"You know something Kaitlyn?" He asked switching to a serious face.
"What?.."
"You're very beautiful."
I nervously giggled and looked down.
As I tried to compose myself to say something I felt his hand on my chin.
He lifted up my face to look right at his.
I had never seen Klay look at me like this.
He looked at me as though I was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.
He leaned in and kissed me on my lips.
I was undeniably nervous but the feeling of his lips on mine was so amazing that I lost myself in the moment.
As the kiss deepened, I heard footsteps coming towards the living room.
I pushed Klay off and mouthed to him that my brother was coming.
Klay grabbed another handful of popcorn before looking at my brother and asking "round 2?" like nothing had happened.
Jake and Klay got back to their chairs and started playing again.
As it got later, Jake began to yawn and stated that he was going to bed.
As he left the living room, Klay looked back at me and asked "Sooo.. What do we do now?"
