"Maia, time to wake up. We're going to Nanny Anne and Grandad Derek's house for the weekend remember," I said as a stroked my little cherubs face as she stirred slightly before she finally woke. "Do you want fruit or cereal for breakfast?" I asked as I pulled her from her cot and balanced her on my hip, her chocolate brown curls covering her gorgeous greeny-brown eyes which I quickly swiped away so she could look at me.

"Nana and bewwies" she said in her cute little morning voice. That translated from Maia speak is bananas and berries.

"Right well down we go we need to leave as soon as possible little one," I said as we made our way to the kitchen. I prepared our breakfasts and then we made our way upstairs to get ready. I'd already packed and laid out our clothes ready so the process could go quicker. We were ready to leave so I loaded up the car, locked up the house and strapped Maia into her car seat and a quick check of my watch told me it was 9:15am meaning we'd probably get to Birmingham for about 11:00am.

So just to explain, each month Maia-Olivia and I make our way down to Birmingham to see Brad's family and spend a weekend with them (strategically when Brad isn't there). Anne and Derek also make the effort to come up to see us one weekend a month. This has been the same since I decided to move back home after Brad left me. They were really supportive throughout the pregnancy and now so I really love seeing them as does Maia.

11:00
I pull up outside the familiar house and turn off the ignition as I park up. I get out and go round to wake up Maia.

"Mo, we're here baby wakey wakey," I cooed as her eyes lightly fluttered open and she began to mooch around. I lifted her from her car seat and made my way to the front door after locking the car.

"I knock," Maia said as we got to the door. I smiled as I held her closer to the door so she could reach. After a few of her little knocks Anne opened the door with a smile and Maias smile grew on her little face at the sight of her nanny.

"Hello gorgeous girl," anne said as she held out her arms for Maia. I passed her over and let them cuddle for a few seconds before Anne let Maia loose probably off to find her Grandad.

"Hello Anne, how are you?" I asked as she pulled me into a hug.

"I'm wonderful sweetie, all the better for seeing you! You look fabulous god my son is a silly boy letting you get away," she said making me giggle lightly although the slight mention of Brad made my heart ache slightly, I miss him. "Come on let's go and find trouble, no doubt her and Derek will be up to no good," she said changing the subject as she must have sensed that it was still a touchy subject. She pulled me inside and closed the door behind me.
