Chapter 8
After slamming Harry's car door shut, I can't help but feel guilty for telling him that I didn't like who he is. Sure, that's how I really feel, but I'm not a mean person. I hate putting others down because I know how it feels. Although, I'm sure Harry didn't think twice about what I said. He probably just thinks of this all as a game, and I'm done playing it.
As I walk up to my house in the dark, I decide that I will take Alicia up on her offer to hang out with she and her friends tomorrow. I think I have officially gotten Harry out of my life, and I would like to surround myself with people who will not bring me down, and this is a good way for me to make new friends.
I open the door to my house and I can hear my parents arguing about something in the kitchen, so I just go right up to my room. Ever since we moved here, they've been really stressed out and have been fighting a lot. It's exhausting.
As soon as I get in my room, I fall back on my bed. I think I am going to go to sleep early tonight, but I need to shower first.
I reluctantly get up so I can get ready for bed, but as soon as I walk across the room, I can hearmusic playing from outside.
I pad over to my window to see where it's coming from, and nearly have a heart attack when I find the source.
It's coming from the house next door, and that house is Harry's. I guess the window I can see from my room is Harry's, because I can see him... And he is undressing.
I force myself to look away and shut my blinds, because he obviously has no intention of closing his. I must say though, the glimpse I got of him was pure perfection. Only his jeans were on, and they hung low on his waste, showing those beautiful lines in his hips, and his toned stomach.
I had been meaning to ask him about the tattoos that pepper his body, but I never did. I can't believe Anne let him get so many when he's only a teenager. I've never really liked tattoos, but he makes them so attractive.
I shake my head once I realize what my thoughts are involving. I need to get him out of my mind.
Tuesday Evening
"You are not wearing that..." Alicia looks at me when I get into her car.
"Why not?" I look down at my jeans and simple white, Wisconsin Badger's shirt.
"Come here." She pulls the key from the ignition and opens her door to get out.
"What are you doing!" I yell and follow after her. There is nothing wrong with what I'm wearing.
"Where's your room?" She is on a mission.
"Up the stairs." I tell her and follow her to my room.
She heads straight to my closet and searches for a minute or so.
"Put these on." She smiles and hands me a pair of my skinny jeans and a shirt that is too low cut for my liking.
"Why can't I wear this?" I question and take the clothes from her.
"You have to look hot!" She says and searches through my room to find my makeup bag.
I give in and put on the clothes. Then she forces me to let her do my makeup.
"And now you look hot." She smiles proudly.
"I don't understand what was wrong with what I was wearing, I mean we're just going to hang out with your friends."
She doesn't answer me and we go back to her car to leave. I feel very exposed with the new clothes I'm wearing, so I hope we don't stay long.
"This is her house?" I gasp as we pull up to the large home. I don't think I've ever seen a house this big, expect for on the television.
"Yeah, her dad owns some business. I don't really know, but I know that he's in Taiwan or some weird place right now on business and he brought Mrs. Calder, so Eleanor has the place to herself." She says like it's not a big deal.
"Oh." I nod and continue to look at the place.
It's just as big as it looks on the outside, tall ceilings and a grand stair case overwhelm me right when we get inside.
"I thought this was just a hang out?" I whisper to Alicia when I see at least twenty people.
"I might have lied. But loosen up! This is normal, so you're going to have to get used to it." She whispers back.
I'm thankful she made me change, because I definitely would have felt much out of place... More than I already do.
Alicia takes my hand and drags me to the big living room, full of people sitting on couches, talking loudly.
"Hey Addie!"
"Oh hey Louis!" I smile at him.
"Good to see you here. You look great." He winks and grins before walking away. I would think he was flirting with me, but on the way here, Alicia told me he was dating Eleanor. He's just a nice guy.
I can't help but think that if Louis is here, Harry will be here. I scan the room to find him, and to my dismay; the boy is standing by in the kitchen talking to someone.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom, Alicia." I tell her. I really do not want him to see me, and the bathroom is always my escape plan.
"Okay, I'll get you a drink."
A drink? Hopefully she means water or soda.
It is a lot more difficult than I had hoped looking for the restroom. The one I found was in use, so I ended up going downstairs. There are people everywhere! Don't these people need to do their homework? I mean it's Tuesday!
I find the bathroom that is as big as my bedroom at home, if not bigger. I revel in it's size before gripping the edge of the sink to collect my thoughts. I really just want to get out of here.
A knock on the door reminds me that I should get back and face reality.
"Sorr-" I begin to say as I open the door.
"Addie?" Harry's eyes are wide, and so are mine, with surprise.
"That's me." I say sarcastically and start to move.
"Wait," he grabs my hand to prevent me from going. "Can we talk?"
"About..." I pull my hand from his, but I can't deny the electricity his grasp sent through my body.
"How fucking hot you look." He takes his bottom lip between his teeth and grabs my waist to pull me toward him.
"You're sick." I roll my eyes and push him away from me. I can smell the alcohol on his breath, and I want to gag even more than I did after he made his crude remark.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I really want to talk to you though." He slurs.
"No, you're drunk and annoying."
"I'm not that drunk, now can we talk?" He grins.
"I don't want to talk, I have nothing to say." I look at him sternly and his smile grows.
"Well than just listen... Please?" He begs when I keep my hands on my hips.
"You have five minutes, now what could you possibly want to talk about?"
"Can we go somewhere else?" He looks behind me at the bathroom.
I agree and we end up in a room in the basement. I make him keep the door open, just in case.
"If you're not going to say anything than I'm going to go back upstairs.." I say and wait impatiently.
"No! I just.. I don't know what I'm trying to say..." He runs his hand through his unruly hair before sitting on the edge of the bed that's in the corner.
I have no idea why I'm even with him right now, but it was definitely a bad idea.
"Okay well I'm going to leave then. I do not need you wasting my time anymore."
"Addie, I like you." He blurts out as I begin to walk away.
