Haley
"What!" I screamed. I could't keep it down. What did he mean "keep it down"? Who in the hell would keep it down if they spent $2500 on a flight all the way to France only to learn your man has essentially taken some kind of WIFE?!!!
Delaney tried to explain in the back of the limousine. "Now, Haley, you told me to—"
"— I don't give a good goddamn what I told you! I can't believe you! You said you wanted me! Me! That I was your future, motherfucker! You said me and Bree. Not me and everybody else on the fucking Earth!"
I began to sob. So stupid. So insanely, incredibly stupid. I was starting to hyperventilate, and he tried to calm me down.
"Don't you fucking touch me!" I screamed.
"Haley," Delaney started. "I love you. I've never said it before. But I'm saying it now. And I want you at my side. But Jai's place now is at my side too."
"Fuck you. You're a lie, you punk bitch. You're a lie," I sobbed. "Who is this fucking trick? Can she please get out of here? You don't even know her! She doesn't come from where we come from!"
Jai turned to address me, her voice lethal and guttural, "Bitch, all you were was a one-night stand. And really, you're not even worth that."
I leaped up, and so did she. She was faster. Stronger. Just as her long fingers clutched my throat, Delaney jumped between us and threw her arm back.
I spit on Jai. She reached around Delaney and scratched me with her sharp, clawed nails.
Jai seemed to talk without her lips even moving. "Let's get one thing straight, little kitty. I'm going to be his wife. And when I am, you will serve me. For the rest of your wretched little life."
