What does it mean to be me, Victoria Winston? Well it means a nerd at school. That’s all I do at school: the work or read books. I only have one friend: Deanna. At home it means that I get to do all the work. Yep. Typically Cinderella in my home. Mom died giving birth to me. Dad remarried to an evil women. She had another daughter with my dad. Then Dad dies in an drunk driver accident. Evil women makes me do all the work. Actually it's really not like that. I have to do all the work because my half-sister,Bailey, is 7. And she has Autism. Sometimes it is very difficult being her care taker. But she is just so cute and little. It's worth it. I have to do it because Jenny, my step-mom, works all the time to take care of us. I think I see her 3 nights in a week. She works at a law firm and is gone most of the time. So I have to do everything for Bailey.

And on top of that, I have a job at the local bookstore. I take Bailey there with me. It's hard trying to work and watch over Bailey. But the old lady who owns the bookstore, loves Bailey. They do a lot together when I work. Bailey loves the old lady, Natalie. Its so cute.

And I have to hang out with my best friend sometimes. Her name is Deanna. We share a love of books. She is my only friend. But we have more than 75% of our classes together. Like all the time. Small town has that benefit.

Finally, I have to keep up with my books. I love my books. Books are my life. I can be anything in books. I love going to different worlds. Escaping reality. That's one of my favorite things.

I woke up to get ready for work. It was Saturday. I woke up Bailey. She quickly got up. She was excited. She quickly got dressed for me. Then I let her watch a cartoon while I took a shower and got dressed. Natalie doesn't care what I wear to work. I pick out jean shorts, a white tank top, and a green jacket. I grabbed my purse and walked downstairs to Bailey. I got her to shut off the TV. And we headed out to get some breakfast. We got doughnuts on the way. She wasn't very talkative this morning so we mostly had a silent car ride. Once we got there, Bailey run to Natalie.

"Hey baby girl." Natalie said and gave her a big hug.

"Hey, Nat-Nat." Bailey said. "What happening today?"

"Well Victoria is going to do the cash register, stock up books, etc. And we are going to go inside and bake some cookies for my grandson. He is coming to live with me for a little bit."

I nodded at her. And her and Bailey were off.

I quickly went to restock the shelves. We didn't open for another 10 minutes. I quickly looked to see if there was any new books. Not really. I then looked up at the clock. It was time to open up. I put the open sign on the door. Not many people come in so I quickly got out my newest read, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Not long into the book, the bell on the door chimes.

I look up. It's just the young lady that always comes in, Faye. She quickly heads over to our new section. She is very quiet and so am I, so this works. But we have gotten really close lately. She moved from the big city and went into the same town life. She easily found what she was looking for.

"Hey, Victoria."

"Hey, Faye. Find anything exciting?"

"Not really. Not any good books are out yet."

"I know right. They all wait for the one month to all go out on selves. I think its book peoples way of showing who's really wearing the pants in the relationship."

"Ha, yeah. This sucks. I'm going to have to wait forever for a good book to read."

"Wait a second. Have you read Thirteen Reasons Why yet?"
