*Trinity's PoV*
I stood motionless as he glare at me, the phone still in his hand. There was a muffled voice coming from the phone, probably wondering if Louis was still on the line after his sudden cut-off, but it wasn't the phone I was concentrated on anymore. His eyes were like blue drills, looking straight into my own hazel ones and making me feeling excruciatingly uneasy. I wanted to fidget, or to move from one foot to the other, as I usually did when I was nervous, but I forced myself to stand straight and act strong.
"Oh, hey," I smiled, trying my best not to let my voice shake as I plopped the cushion back down on the couch and moved onto the next one quickly, avoiding his eyes, "Sorry, I didn't know you were here, just caught up in doing stuff around the house, I guess!"
I chuckled near the end of my sentence in an attempt to make it believable, but I was blabbering and my 'chuckle' sounded like a strangled hiccup, due to my nerves. I built up the courage to look up at Louis once again and tried not to flinch as his narrowed, cold eyes bore into me.
"So you're telling me you didn't hear me call your name?" he asked, his face unchanging, "Not even when I called you multiple times, at the top of my voice?"
I shook my head, but a little too quickly. I cursed myself in my head, knowing that my act wasn't as solid as I had hoped it would be.
"Nope," I replied, struggling to keep my voice steady, "I should probably get a hearing test. I didn't hear anyth-"
"Bullshit!" Louis cut me off, his voice so loud that I could feel my eardrums vibrate.
I folded my lips over one another in an attempt to stop myself from crying. It was a temporary fix, at most, but it was better than bursting into tears then and there.
"Louis, I swear," I continued in my attempt to convince him, but I was interrupted once again. He took a step towards me and I automatically took one backwards.
"Don't lie to me, Trinity," Louis warned through gritted teeth, his phone no longer in his hand.
I looked down, unsure of what do do. If I told him the truth, I was almost sure it wouldn't end well. For me, that is. I'm sure he'd be fine, then he'd be able to deal with his 'little problem' in peace. However, if I lied to him, I would have to keep up with that lie and would have to make sure I didn't slip up, much like he had told the person on the phone that he had to do.
"I'm waiting, Trinity," he spat, obviously looking for some sort of excuse. I wasn't sure if I had one to offer him, but silence simply wouldn't suffice.
"I-I....," I stuttered, unsure of what to say, "I don't know....."
I could see Louis' jaw tense and he shook his head from left to right slowly as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.
"That's what I thought. Now, tell me why. Why didn't you reply when you heard me calling you? Come on, let it spill," he instructed, his tone chilling.
I struggled with what to say, as I had been for the past few moments. I had to be very careful with how I answered this. I didn't want to end up out on the street again, because, this time, I would really have no-where left to go. I couldn't think of anything and decided to just take what was going to happen to me. After all, I had brought this on myself. I should have just replied when he called my name at the door.
"I don't know Louis, I just don't know," I sighed, sitting on the down wearily on the couch, rubbing my tired eyes as I attempted to prepare myself for what was coming.
