From as far back as I remember, it has been war.
From the moment mother and father disappeared, to the moment I met Luke in the orphanage a year later. That was before everything crashed, and we started running.
I heard a slight shuffle along the dirt, and my eyes flew open. I sat straight up and looked over to my left and immediately said, " Luke?"
Luke rolled over, his eyes squinting from waking up from his sleep. " What is it Bella?" He asked with a twinge of annoyance lingering with the words. I stuttered for a moment, feeling a bit sorry for waking him. Sleep came rarely these days to Runners like us. I shook my utterance and asked, " Did you hear that?"
He shook his head. " Bella, you're imagining things again. I promise there's nothing there." He said, clearly still annoyed. I left his words in silence for a few moments before whispering a soft apology, though I knew he was asleep by then.
I laid back down and closed my eyes.
It was nothing Bella...It IS nothing....
My words drifted off in my mind as it settled, and I slipped away into a deep dream. One that I haven't had in a long time.

Hey guys! I hope you like this snippet of the book!
I actually wrote this book back in 2010 as a fun little story. I re-read the story and thought I would re-write it into a better, and longer book. If you want to know more details about the setting and anything comment and like the book! thank you so so so much!
