"So, what have y'all done this summer?" Celine Whitley asked her friends in their school cafeteria. The cafeteria at West Creek Middle was your typical public school lunchroom. Sloppily cleaned up and crowded. Each table was set up in rows horizontally from the stage to the doors.
On the first day back kids struggled to find seats near their friends. Some rushed around to find seats, while others stared into the crowd with terrified expressions.
"Oh nice outfit, by the way, Logan," Celine complimented.
"Hmm" he said looking up from his soggy pizza.
"Your outfit, I like it" Celine smirked as she repeated herself.
"Oh....thanks" he mumbled modestly, a small blush appearing over his freckles, looking down at his plaid long sleeved blue shirt and khakis, "Yours is nice too".
"Ya, it looks like you spent hours on yourself," Caleb chimed in.
"What I'd never-" Celine gasped before she was cut off.
"Lies, you would so take an hour!" James, Logan, and Caleb shouted simultaneously.
A blush rose to her cheeks. She batted he long eyelashes enhanced with mascara to act innocent. Her outfit was a thin faded jean looking tank-top and a pink skirt with white polka dots. A single rubber band held up her brown and blonde hair in a high pony.
"Anyways, we all did some summer camps," Caleb continued the conversation.
Celine was staring at james. He wore a plain black t-shirt and some jeans a part of his brown hair fell in his face.
"Are you even listening?" Caleb fumed.
"She's too busy looking at how hot I am," James joked.
"What? no! I'm just lookin at your hair, it's. . . Floofy," Celine stammered, clearly embarrassed.
"Well my "floofy hair" isn't what our conversation was about" James smirked.
"Well what summer camps did you three go to?" Celine asked moving on.
"I did a computer technology camp thingy," Logan mumbled.
"Acting!" Caleb cheered with jazz hands.
James smirked, "I actually took some dance classes."
"Oooooh, did you like em?" Celine questioned.
Logan and Caleb nodded wanting to know too.
"Tap was my favorite," James said excited to be on this topic.
Celine gasped, "you do know I'm a dancer, right?"
"Your point?" He huffed.
"I could hook you up with some classes at my studio! We have a pretty bomb tap teacher," She explained smiling brightly and doing finger guns.
"I'd love to go see the studio and join your class!" He exclaimed.
"Great! The season just started" She cheered.
A girl with pitch black hair pale skin and red lips walked over to the table as James and Celine's conversation finished. She sat down and flattened out her midnight blue skirt and brushed off dust from her black tank top.
"Ally! What took so long?" Celine asked.
"Yeah, you don't normally take this long" Caleb said.
She shrugged "People kept talking to me."
"Your so popular now-a-days. People always talkin to ya" Celine sighed.
"Its "talking" and "you" Celine" She corrected with a grin.
"You know what I mean" she replied rolling her eyes "B.T.W ya missed out on a big convo."
"Oh come on, it wasn't that big," James smiled.
Celine shrugged," So, whatcha do durin the summer Al"
"There were parties, hanging out with people, ya know, stuff" She murmured.
"Typical stuff for popular people," Caleb teased.
The conversation continued into more random topics until the bell rang. Everyone each went their separate ways to classes.
