I watched Molock's memories as if they were playing on a movie screen. It was clear to me that Raum had purposely lured him away from the small paladin group to try and protect them. Raum's maneuver was effective but costly. He was forced to absorb some heavy blows during the initial exchange. A female paladin was with him, and she obviously kept him from being overpowered with her healing prayers. Molock sensed what was going on and diverted his attack to take her out of the picture. Raum blocked the blow, but part of the impact got through and hit the healer in the shoulder knocking her down to the ground. I watched and listened as Molock taunted Raum after the exchange.
"That should keep your little healing friend out of the way long enough for me to finish you off."
The attack didn't have the effect he intended. I sensed a connection between Raum and the paladin female. It was strong, too strong for them to be just friends. The look in Raum's eyes as he turned back to face Molock told me everything I needed to know. He was totally and completely in love with her. He instantly reminded me of myself when Amelia was in danger. I knew those feelings all too well. They changed his demeanor and power level in an instant. That's when I saw the aura form around him and heard his response back to Molock.
“What's the matter brother, are you afraid to face an adversary who has now become more than your equal?”
That was the beginning of the end for Molock. He was totally outclassed once Raum revealed his true power levels. Which lead me to my next question? How did he keep his powers masked in the first place? They had now become stronger than most immortals. He shouldn't have been able to get anywhere near Zebul. That's when I saw the answer to not only that question but many others that were running through my mind. It was right there hiding in plain sight all along. A small leather pouch attached to Raum's belt held the key...artifacts!
