This chapter is dedicated to jarfullofcookies for making me the AMAZING banner on the right! From now on, I am going to do a dedication each chapter to a supportive fan. Enjoy the chapter! Recap: I saw Duke tense.
“Yes sir. There is a reason I brought her early. Her friend, Mia Williamson knows about us. She read the letter, and I think she might be in danger because of Them. They may try to use her against us in some way.
I couldn’t believe I had forgotten. Duke had mentioned something about Mia being in danger earlier but what with all the information about our true lives and identities I had forgotten. Yeah, I sure was a good best friend.
The Boss sighed.
“I will get some people undercover to protect her for a while. We can take it further from there if we need to. Here is the information for the dorm Izzy will be staying in along with her classes. Now if you’ll excuse me I have some calls to make to settle this situation. Dinner starts in half an hour. Izzy sorry for all the confusion and, officially, welcome to The Academy.” ______________________________________________
Duke and I walked in silence for a while after that. I couldn’t believe I had been so concerned with myself when Mia was in danger. It was my fault too. Gahh what should I have done differently? Not let her read the letter? Yeah, that was it. I shouldn’t have let her snatch it away from me without my consent like she did? I probably could have kept it from her and I should have. I didn’t know when the next time I was going to see her was, the Boss had made it clear that he had a lot of work so I didn’t have time to ask all my question.
“Hey D?”
“Mmhh?”
“When am I going to get to see Mia again?”
He sighed and looked into my eyes
“I’m not really sure Sis, hopefully soon, because I am sure the Boss will want to speak to her about what she knows. Now stop feeling guilty, it’s not your fault.”
I opened my mouth to protest (I hated it how well he knew me) but shut it again knowing it would be of no use.
“The Boss said he gave you the information of who I’d be rooming with..” I trailed off knowing he knew where I was going. Duke nodded his head and started to unfold a piece of paper.
“He’s usually really good about rooming stuff. He does it based on personality so lets see--” I cut him off not meaning to be rude.
“How does he know my personality? I just got here”
“He’s had his eye on you for a while thinking you could be a Magi so, yeah not to sound creepy but he kinda knows you. Plus Ms. Wiley spoke to him about you a bit when she thought you might be a Magi.”
“Oh” I guess it wasn’t that creepy then, it just felt weird to have The Boss know me when I knew nothing about him.
“So, hah sorry for interrupting you. Who am I rooming with?”
He glanced down at the slip of paper and a grin broke out onto his face.
“I think this should be good. They seem like really nice, fun girls.”
“What are their names?”
“Lyra, Crys, and Riley.” I looked up at him just in time to see a touch of pink flushing his cheeks, but when I looked closer it was gone. I must have been imagining things, Duke never blushed.
“Here we are Iz. Ready to meat your roommates?” he asked with a laugh as he patted my back.
“Ready as I’ll ever be.”
