05 (Nathan Drake) Late night talks

Nathan and you don't know where you stand with one another, there's mixed feelings, moments you've shared that confused you both and a lot of side glances when the other isn't looking. He loves you and you've no idea. 

It's dark and not the nice dark where you have the stars shining beautifully, or the moon making everything around you glow with a white tint. It's bitterly cold, the kind that feels like it's pinching your skin and you just want to wrap layer after layer around you to escape it. Tonight the sky is clear of any stars and the moon is absent, it feels like a gloomy night not to mention looks like one.

"It's three in the morning" I hear a voice from behind me and I know exactly who it is, I'm curious as to why they're up this late- or should I say early? Nathan smiles to me from the living room door when I turn to face him, his hair is ruffled like he's just woken up and I feel panicked wondering if it was me.

I quickly reach behind me to close the door that leads to the tiny balcony. "Hope I didn't wake you" I say locking the door one handed, maybe the sounds coming in from the outside disturbed him.

"Ah, not at all" he dismisses it and I nod relaxing a little "you're up a little late" he comments.

"Not tired," I reply instantly and he nods "think it's the weather, unsettling." I add gesturing to the now locked doors, he walks closer joining me and crosses his arms as we both stare out at the city. It looks nice but not nearly as nice when the starts are out, hopefully they return tomorrow. Inside our little apartment is warm now, knowing the cold is on the outside is comforting and I will admit around Nathan I burn up, nervously.

We've lived together for three years now and worked too, I'm the best shooter in the business as well as a hell of a good distraction. It's worked in our favor since Nathan is sneaky, quiet, charming and the most discreet pick-pocket. We're the perfect team. At the moment we're in Boston, working and he's in the middle of sorting something out that I can't know about just yet. I imagine we'll be traveling real soon though, he's excited.

"You up for visiting Sully tomorrow?" he asks out of the blue.

I smile with a nod "definitely, it's been a while."

"Jose is the only reason you'd say yes" he chuckles and I laugh looking at him "obviously, I love that bird!" I exclaim and we both laugh, he's a parrot at the bar Victor owns and I love the damn thing. I don't care about the free drinks there, just the colorful bird that always sits on my shoulder and stays there until I leave. Nathan thinks he's drawn to me because I'm one of the only females who set foot in there, it's a male dominated place.

Nathan sighs "I need to bring him in on a job, that why we're going" he admits sounding like he doesn't want to involve him at all. 

"Am I involved?" I ask.

"Of course but it means going some place I don't really want to..." he trails off and I see the look on his face, one that I'm familiar with. "Panama?" I question and out the corner of my eye I see him nodding, he doesn't want to go back after what happened.

"Just off the coast anyway" he says trying to make it sound better.

I lean my head on his shoulder in a comforting way, I didn't know him back when his brother died because I was just a teenager then but he explained what happened when someone else involved tried getting in contact with him. I was around twenty one when I met Nathan, fresh out of college after studying History and jumped straight into a criminal lifestyle. it's not exactly what my parents would've wanted for me but I'm happy. 

"Alright, so what are we looking for?" I question moving on quickly.

"Sir Francis Drake's coffin" I can hear the smile on his face and I raise an eyebrow at him, the hell does he want to go find his coffin. "I'm curious as to why" I say and he quickly tells me. "He faked his own death and I want to find out why, so we recover the coffin see what's inside and see where it takes us next."
