My world was dyed in blood. Everything, had a red look to it. From the blood, to the flames. The air was thick with the metallic scent and the suffocating smoke. Bodies were everywhere, victims of Damien. Most of them were girls because he was searching for Amelia. Me. My brother, Arrow upon attacking his ship, had told him I wasn't on his side. My brother and I never saw eye to eye you could say. I didn't mind and I didn't care. At least that's what I told myself. So here Damien was, attacking the once glorious palace of Adrian and Salem Underwood. My protectors since I had been orphaned only weeks before.
Everyone from my school seemed to be there. Jeremy and Jonathan and Taylor were alive. Almost all the others...weren't. They laid there. Eyes open. Unmoving. The bodies of people who had trusted me. Even youngest here. I won't go into the details of deaths. Just know the gore surrounding me was worse than anything I'd ever seen on the news. You don't know what that feels like. To have those images scarred into your brain for life. I hope you never do. When you see people who had been alive and healthy, suddenly on the floor, missing limbs, blood gushing everywhere, hearing screams of agony as they died...it's unthinkable. And yet I rethink it. Every night the memory floods my mind. Pure torture.
Damien was attacking Xion when I arrived. Xion, my closest friend. Sister of my protectors. Damien didn't know me yet. Didn't know my face at least.
She was fighting. Fell and Salem were helping. Fell was the middle child. Older than Xion, yet younger than Salem and Adrian, who were twins. Adrian, who had taken a deep interest in me during my stay, took one look at me and went white. Everyone stopped what they were doing to look at me as I stare at the bodies. A horrific scene no man should ever see.
Damien looked me over. "Well well...welcome to the party. What's your name kiddo?" He taunted. Xion's blood covered him. She looked tired and weak from the fight.
Seizing the opportunity, Salem took his little sister and kept her behind him, out of reach from the monster they call Damien. "Hey! She hasn't answered my question yet! I don't know her name!" He yelled at her brother. Fell glared and got in front of my friend as well.
Damien turned back to me. He notice two swords on my hips. He stared, eyes getting wide. Then he grinned. "What's your name? I'm Damien." "Who are you looking for!? How dare you-" "Oh save it. Doesn't matter now, does it? I killed them. Whatcha gonna do about it?" "Kill you." He seemed taken back by my strong, leveled voice. I was too. I should have been bawling by now. I pulled my blades out. "I'm looking for a girl. The men died because they got In the way. But I'll spare you if you tell me where I might find Amelia Dawson. See...we can sense her energy and my father has gotten impatient. These twins aren't doing anything but babying her. Is it the blonde over here?" He laughed. "Shut up." He glared. "What did you just say to me? Do you want me to kill you?" Adrian grabbed me and pulled me back. "No! Don't get involved. Please." "You let them die..." "I couldn't stop him. I couldn't get him to stop." Adrian's eyes were red. I coldly pulled away.
"I, am, Amelia. And, I, will, kill, you," I hissed. My blood boiled in anger. He smirked. "My my...I finally meet the little thing I've tormented for over a year." He licked his lips. I stopped. "What?" "Don't you remember? I've toyed with you before in your dreams pet...what makes you think I won't do it now? In fact, I promise you I will." He edged toward me, grinning like the serial killer he was. I snapped.
"I PROMISE I'LL KILL YOU!" And I tackled him. He dodged my swords. I saw him watching my movements. He smiled slyly and moved in. Both my swords were knocked from my hands. I screamed and started punching and kicking. Not exactly the best course of action. I was getting too angry to stay in control.
He was beginning to notice something off about me.
"Which Dragon do you belong to?" He asked slowly in the heat of the fight. "Like I'm telling you!" I belong to a race where dragons were like our mascot.
It is where our main power originated from. I was the chosen child of the dragons, much like Adrian and Salem were as well. "You should've stayed with that brother of yours. I wonder what he'll say when he finds out you've been getting cozy with Underwoods." "SHUT UP!" I yell, punching him in the face with a dark hand. "So...Kuro then?" He asked, referring to the dragon of darkness. I saw his breath finally showing signs of exhaust. Finally. I could win. I hit him with light and knocked him across the room "Hikari as well!?" He gasped. I froze his legs. Fire burning in my eyes. His eyes widened. "Then that means..." Yes. It meant that the real nightmare...was me.
I knocked him around a bit more. "Okay! I get it! I'll tell my father to leave you alone! Let me go!" He gasped, begging to be saved. Blood poured down his face. I had him by the head. I didn't let him go. Adrian and Salem exchanged glances. "I thought I told you I would kill you..." My voice came out like a snake hissing. "Amelia! Stop! We can't have Kek's wrath coming down on us!" Kek, was Damien's father. "Enough child!" Salem yelled. His voice was cold, the icy tone hinted a sharp warning in his words. "Lia! You've done enough!" Xion yelled. Such a pretty nickname she gave me. "Please!" Fell also chimed. Despite their pleas, I couldn't hear them. I had no light in my eyes. I sent 10,000 volts of electricity to his brain. Then, I released him.
Salem had wide eyes as he rushed over and felt for a pulse. He just stared at me. I backed away slowly. My glossy eyes finally caught up with the horrific scene in front of me. The tears now finally reaching my eyes. I backed away, not wanting to hear what he said. I looked around. My comrades were sobbing over their fallen companions. Taylor was crying over Alex. The blood was everywhere.
Jeremy came up to me. I tried to blink back the tears but to no avail.
"You okay?" I slowly shook my head. How could I be? How could he even ask that of me?
Adrian came over. "I told you not to do that! What were you think-" He silenced himself as I sank to the floor and held a dismantled body, sobbing and trembling like I was mad.
The world I knew was dyed in blood. All I could smell was its thick aroma. All I could see were dead people. All I could hear was the roar of the flames. "I did this...I killed them..." "No, Amelia...you didn't kill-" Adrian tried to say. "I SHOULDVE BEEN HERE!" I sobbed. He gave me a pained look.
Salem stormed over. He intended to give me a piece of his mind. He threw me away from the body, blood on our hands. "What were you thinking!? Do you realize what you've done!?" "STAY AWAY FROM ME!" He looked shocked and fell silent. I just held my head. Shaking. Voices screamed and laughed. Fire hissed in my ears as it was being put out. Salem slowly looked at his brother. "Is she...broken?"
You see, that's where it all goes fuzzy. I'm suddenly being held. Carried away from the blood. I'm screaming. I'm crying. I'm lost. My eyes have no life. Like a doll on a shelf they portray the emptiness of my soul. I'm a murderer...I realized. And then...Black.
